Why Sakurai gave Wario the farts and the motorcycle, I will never understand. I mean, yeah, I understand the clothes but that doesn't mean he cannot have Wario Land moves. If Wario had his Wario Land moves, then maybe Mach Rider might have a shot. Oh well. The entire point of making Wario have his WarioWare appearance was to single him out for the franchise that really made him "come into his own," as Colonel Campbell said in that one CODEC conversation with Snake. The Wario Land games are all well and good, but they were just platformers. WarioWare is unique and remarkable in its own right. WW is what has given Wario his own identity--before that, he was just the Anti-Mario. So it's only natural that some of Wario's more prominent moves (the bike and the flatulence) originate from WarioWare. Having Wario wear his WW costume and giving him moves exclusive to Wario Land would defeat the entire purpose.

Man I kinda want Sukapon playable, but it really sounds like Sakurai doesn't want to throw him in the game at all. That's too bad, I like goofy characters with dots for eyes.

He has his classic shoulder bash, a taunt from the cover of WL3 and his costume. This is disregarding things from Wario World I've forgotten, as I'm sure a few of those will be in too. Great job translating Flip. I'm glad several rumours about the past games are put to rest. EDIT so I don't double post: Flip, you said in another thread Pit was never considered for 64 or Melee. I don't disbelieve you, even tho I've heard otherwhise for quite some time. Was it Meta Knight that was dropped for Jigglypuff, then? Or is there no truth to to the rumour someone was dropped because they couldn't get the flight mechanics to work?

The Jiggles thing may been over somebody like... Sukapon? Maybe? It would've had to been early in the dev cycle since characters are likely planned early on from the getgo rather than added late in development. I know for a fact that Ganondorf was going to be in the game anyways, but because of constraints Sakurai was like: "well, might as well make him a Captain clone." Mostly due to similar body structures.

Gannondorf actually has a different moveset almost in the game. You can Action Replay out the sword he has in his trophy. He doesn't change moves or anything, but its in their. So I'm guessing at the last minute they gave him his clone moveset and said screw it about the sword. He wasn't intended to be a clone, unlike Dr. Mario or Pichu.

Takamaru's quite a possibility with this information, I wouldn't mind seeing him myself.

Out of curiousity, I rediscovered the Takamaru question and comment from the SSB64 Quetionnaire and had someone at Smash World Forums translate it. The outlook? NOT GOOD >.>
The question:
"What is the likelihood of a new Riddle of Castle Murasame game or Takamaru appearing in Super Smash Bros.?"
Sakurai's Response:
"I'd say both are pretty low."

I dunno about you guys, but I'm officially in "Not Speculating Anymore" mode.
I mean - yeah, it was a great way to kill time back when we did do it (and back before we were as educated as we are now), but now that we're about a month away from the game's release, there's no point in killing that time now. I'm not even hell-bent on anyone anymore because they've either mostly been turned into Assists (Goroh) or already confirmed (Wario, Dedede). The only one I dunno about at this point that I even really want to is Falco, but I've gone almost two years torturing myself over the lack of that information and I don't have it in me to do it for another month. Less than that if we get a leak.
Whatever will be, will be. You know? All speculatin' is doing at this point is pissing people off.

*flips Sakurai the bird* ...another character. Wasted. How spoiled this fanbase is... I think everyone is irked when the character they want is deconfirmed. With another one bitting the dust, it makes me wonder what the final roster will look like.

The Sukapon thing from the old Dojo was illuminating as it highlighted a technical issue that prevented him from being included.
This is just Sakurai, around 10 years ago, saying Takamaru isn't all that likely. Well, plenty of time has passed since then, and this is not useful. Especially as we have more recent, and more positive, information on the character.
I bet everyone who hasn't been announced yet will be an unlockable, and we won't find them out until the game's release - likely all on day 1 by people who imported the game.

How spoiled this fanbase is... There's a reason I've been meaning to visit here less, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it... I'm sorry. I just think that e-flipping off the guy who's making the game for us because 10 years ago he said a highly obscure character wasn't likely to appear is... ridiculous. Forgive me if I was out of line. I'm getting pretty sick of the "fuck you, Sakurai" attitude that a few people here display every time someone they wanted is deconfirmed. We were treated to these immature tantrums when Meowth and Little Mac were deconfirmed, and when Sonic was confirmed... and I'm sure we'll get more when Geno is deconfirmed, too. The game is going to be amazing as it is, there's really no need to behave that way.
