There's a chance that 'past stages' will be returning in Brawl, with the new Pokemon stage being called Pokemon Stadium 2. So my question is what Past Stages would you like to see returning in Brawl? You can pick from both Melee and the original N64 version ofcourse... I guess in a way I'm asking what's your favorite stage right now? I'm probably not alone when I say I'd like to see the return of the Temple stage. When I'm playing with friends and the random stage option picks Temple we all make a mad dash for what we call 'the battle cage', otherwise known as the cave. People die with atleast 300% and usually not before bouncing off a few walls with the speed of light. Another one of my favorites would be the Great Fox stage, especially in the N64 version, possibly because the wall on the right served as a predecessor to 'the battle cage'. It also was larger then the Corneria version in Melee.

In terms of "Past Stages", I'd prefer it if they just took all eight stages from SSB64 and gave them graphical remakes. That would be kewl.

Big Blue or Fourside were my favorites. They should come back from Melee.
From SS64? Um...Hyrule Castle.

It means we can see DeDeDe and Meta knight Duke it out on the Original Dreamland stage. All 8 from SS64 and heck we might just get an expansion disk that gives us everything from Melee too. doubt it though.

I personally like all of the Melee stages. Most of them are rather colorful. For my tastes anyway.
But if they do come back (LOL TOOOOOO MUCH DISC SPACE TAKEN UP), they should be amended in their own ways.
Princess Peach's Castle: No more Banzai Bills, maybe because of that "Smart Bomb" item that's here. Rainbow Ride: The ship should last longer prior to hitting the platform plethora. Kongo Jungle: Ah, fine the way it is. Jungle Japes: Add Funky Kong and Candy Kong as background characters. Great Bay: Eh, not sure about what else to fix here. Temple: Fine the way it is. Yoshi's Story: Make it into the big-assed all-out obstacle course that it was in the beta version of Melee.
More later. Need to go.

I'm totally with Roberto's idea, that would most definitely be kewl. But if they aren't doing that, I'll just pick three of my favorites from each (excluding Yoshi's Island, Kongo Jungle and Dream Land, they were already in Melee)...
SSB64: Saffron City, Hyrule Castle, Mushroom Kingdom (the one with the Warp Pipes!)
SSBM: Hyrule Temple, Fourside, Poke Floats (I love love love that stage)

I have an unverified theory that all past stages will be returning, in their original forms with no changes. Not necessarily what I want to happen, but I am kinda expecting it.

I did too, but then I remembered that doing so would disappoint me when it turns out it won't be happening. It would also be kind of lazy really. If they're bringing back old ones they should atleast introduce plenty of new ones, more then returning stages anyway.

I think leaving Retro stages as they were has a greater symbolic reason to it that a lot of people don't consider. And those of you who don't--your reasoning is sound! I'm behind you guys all the way. It does seem kinda lazy to leave them alone. But my guess is that Sakurai may not want to change those levels simply because they represent what Smash was at that time; updating them would be him showing that he does not respect the work that he did in the past. Something most artists feel, and since this game is nothing short of a work of art based on what we've seen so far from the franchise and what we know is coming, I'm inclined to believe that's why it won't happen.
Anyway.
My top picks for Retro Stages:
Pokémon: Saffron City: Since it looks like Sakurai is again using general sites for Pokémon that are not any particular area, I'd like to see this place come back just 'cause I know where it is within the bounds of the Pokémon universe. That and it was really fun to play in; the terrain had a fantastic design.
Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Castle: Again, the terrain on this area was so much fun. Sure, you never could play on the area in OoT, and the whirlwind hazard was kinda silly...but it was still a neat stage. A lot of my fondest Smash memories come from this area.
Star Fox: Sector Z: Sure, it'd be a rehashed Great Fox level, but it came right from the era of Star Fox 64; everything about the level screams that installment of the franchise. Back when things weren't average at best. Before the franchise took a nosedive. Besides, I don't like wide areas--so if we're going to have any more after New Pork City, I'd rather it be this one instead of Hyrule Temple or some new monstrosity.
F-Zero: F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue: F-Zero needs a LOT of love. and I mean a LOT. It deserves to be one of the exclusive franchises to have a Retro Stage. And since Mute City would probably absorb disk space like a sponge (the entire level needs to exist at once--I imagine this is not the case for Big Blue, since you're always running along one section of track, with five or six cars at a time), why not go for the Heavyweight Brawler's Worst Nightmare? That, plus the music is, as always, wizzleing METAL. \m/ \m/
Game & Watch: Flat Zone: The only reason we really need this level back is because of the music. Awesome friggin Retro Game Techno. But it was also a great Chaos stage, since it was so narrow and there were always hazards. And the flattening effect on characters was also neat. (I'm disappointed that Camera Mode was so gonzoy there, though.)
Metroid: Planet Zebes: Brinstar Depths: One word: Kraid. ;D Oh, and the fact that the terrain was never the same twice in a match was awesome. it really kept you on your toes.
Notice that I stuck with franchises that didn't get Retro Stages in Melee. Neat, eh? ;D

I love Fountain of Dreams visually and musically. I hope the existence of Nightmare in Dream Land is a reason to bring the stage back (and the Virtual Console release of Kirby's Adventure).

Saffron City mostly.

Saffron City was definitely the most interesting of all the stages in SSB64. I mean... at the time, Pokemon was still new, and we'd only seen Saffron City as green pixels. And all of those extra Pokemon appearing in the doorway? Bonus!
Zebes as well. The Brinstar remix in that was better IMO than the Melee remix. Also weird to think there were only 3 Metroid games back then...
Context is an unusual mistress.

Just thought I'd re-post my previous ideas, rather than having to type it out again. I'd also like to see some 'classic' levels make a return such as, Saffron City, Mushroom Kingdom and Hyrule Castle from SSB and Rainbow Ride, Big Blue and Super Flatzone from SSBM.
