I like this udate, actually. Now this is a good explanation of how MK's "borrowing" Kirby's abilities! We have Ninja, Wing, Tornado... what's the side smash one based on? Mach Tornado may look like Tornado Kirby but it's like many of Meta's moves, from his fighting style in KSS. The tornado was one of two wind abilities, one was shooting a cyclone out of his sword and then there was this in the air. He also could drill across the screen (well shoot but he had his sword in front of him and either had wings out or did it with wings during the crash sequence) and when he was defeated he SWOOPED into his cape. They made that an intro and victory exit but also a psuedo-move. Only Shuttle Loop is a direct Kirby power, and KSS again. It's clearly Sakurai's favorite of the series, and it shows well. Which is good.

This does clear them up a bit more. The last one left me wondering, just what does that Dimensional Cape do anyways?

Maybe I'm wrong here, but wasn't Super Star the last Kirby game that Sakurai actually worked on? I remember reading that he distanced himself greatly from the series after that, and refused to even look at Kirby 64 until after it was released.

I know he worked on Air Ride and Canvas Curse, but I've heard similar rumors. Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad were post-Sakurai, and they had to get him to come back to work on them ever so little.

That can't be right. If he distanced himself after Super Star, what was he doing all those years.
Sometimes, I question Sakurai. He's a great developer, but sometimes seems to not love what he creates.

There were no Kirby games between 1997 and 2000. And the only Kirby games HAL have made since Kirby 64 are Air Ride and Canvas Curse. They make more than just Kirby and Pokémon Stadium (though they do make a lot of Pokémon games).

They made Pokémon oSnap, which was a fun diversion of a game. And thankfully, they did not make Colosseum, XD, or any other recent crappy spin-offs for the franchise.

Didn't they make Ranger?
EDIT: Yep, they did.

Bah! I stand corrected. Ranger was pretty crap. I can see where they were going with it, but the execution failed on it's face.
