This title, like most Wii titles, supports widescreen display. In other words, you can enjoy the game with full display across televisions with wider screens, too. This is standard display. This is widescreen display. The border off the screen that cues a KO is the same for both. Choose the display mode that matches the TV you have at home.
But some people may not know if they have a normal TV or widescreen TV, and may not even know what difficult terminology like 4:3 or 16:9 means. Right? Who knows all that stuff?
So, all you have to do is check the circle that appears in the background on the screen where you choose your display setting. This is the correct standard ratio. This is the correct widescreen ratio. The two shots above... Wrong.Being able to just look at the image and know if you got your settings right is pretty huge, huh?
Ah, yes. If your television has screen-size settings called Wide and Full, set your TV to Full. If you choose Wide, there is a chance the image may be shifted toward the center of the screen.

This update is so fucking bad, but the very fact Sakurai / Treehouse are toying with us like this ("Being able to just look at the image and know if you got your settings right is pretty huge, huh?") is hilarious.

Well, at least this was covered in a double update.

It could have been an attemp at a pun if you think about it.
At least it was a double update but this is not a bad little feature and it is nice that it is in the game.

He is really stalling. But what can you do when you have 2 months that have to be covered by daily updates. What can you do.

Unveil Captain Falcon as a starting character! Or anything F-Zero related for that matter!

He could have stopped doing multiple updates in a single day. It would annoy everybody but it would stretch out the updates a little bit longer. EDIT: Isn't this the first time that an image has been shown with both Snake and Sonic in it? Also in the first two images the starting location's of player 1 (Mario) and player 4 (Snake) are switched around. Could this mean alternated starting postions when playing every match or could it just be from the widescreen display?

Could this mean alternated starting postions when playing every match or could it just be from the widescreen display? Or they were just moved there at some point in the match (no way of knowing for sure its at the start) but somebody wasn't paying attention properly.

Random starting positions would be nice though. P3/4 ussually start in the center at some small stages and are quick pummel targets.
Not a bad update, I haveth the widescreen and now I can put it to good use.
e: I've got a feeling random starting points will be a future update

I'm not usually one to complain... but this is EASILLY the worst update ever.
Every single Wii game I have so far is widescreen. The Wii itself is widescreen. Pretty much every game released since 2003 has had the option to switch.
I expected something lame, like Sonic's final smash, but this blew away my expectations.

I think this was going to happen, delay or not. On the Melee site, he did an update for the options. That is what we have here. So thi9s time we'll probably get features separately.
