If you haven’t played the last game or the one before that, you may be left wondering something like, "Why isn’t this Pokémon or that Pokémon in the game?" All I’ve been introducing are the ones new to this game.
So now I’d like to introduce several of the Pokémon that appeared in past installments that will be appearing again in Brawl.SuicuneLugiaEnteiStaryuBellossomHo-OhWobbuffetTogepiSnorlaxCelebiThe likelihood of mysterious Pokémon appearing is quite low. Mew and Celebi are especially rare, but they may leave you some kind of present.Mew dropped a CD. Accept it with gratitude!

Let's say you never heard of Smash Brothers. You never played it before ever. And this is the first time you've ever visited the site. You want to know what the fuss is about.
You'd think.... "This game has horrible graphics."
....I wish they would have improved the models.... a little....

They made a wise decision by forgetting that game as soon as possible.

This is real good! But the graphics on some of the pokemon are a little low, but still good. And why did Sakurai show us the secret pokemon, shouldn't he said nothing? And WHY ISN'T PICHU THERE!

THAT would have been great. It would have showed one picture of Pichu and would have had the caption...
"Oh! And this one too?"
That would have been SOMETHING to speculate on. Like the old days.

I went to the site earlier today and looked at the pokeball section and realised how little Pokemon had been shown on the site. This update really makes up for it.
The Mew/Celebi CD dropping is pretty cool but was probably only added because of they don't do anything really useful when they appear in multiplayer. (Apart from giving you points in Bonus mode).

Yes, there was. I'm sure he'll be in Brawl too. You can't have two of them without the third being present.
The thing I'm not too keen on is the fact that Wobbuffet is returning.

The only reason for Wobbuffet not to return is if he became playable. Otherwise he is a necessity.

I was playing Melee over the weekend, and I thought that many of the Pokemon in that were under-designed for launch-day Gamecube. So this is a bit lame and lazy... using the exact same models. Couldn't they pilfer them from a more recent game than Pokemon Stadium 2 on N64?
Although we did learn one new thing. Mew poops music!

Couldn't they pilfer them from a more recent game than Pokemon Stadium 2 on N64? It wouldn't have made any difference if they did. They've never updated Pokémon models. The same ones have been in use since Pokémon Stadium. Even Battle Revolution uses them. Channel did get new models for Pikachu and Meowth, but only because they needed to animate their mouths more.

Not true. The models were updated for the Gamecube games. Not always well. Not always particularly noticably. But they were updated a little. But these... these have not.

I remember the textures being updated ever so slightly, but not the actual models. Maybe they smoothed some of them slightly, but in any decent 3D modelling program that can be done with the click of a button - work a monkey could be trained to do. They were surprisingly good for N64 models, and surprisingly bad for Gamecube ones. And these are definately the same models I see whenever I'm playing my N64. Especially Lickitung. The lighting and blur effects disguise it a little, but it's just as jagged as ever. Charmeleon looks as though it's head may have been smoothed a bit, actually... but it's body looks the same. I do remember Psyduck looking different in Colosseum, but the others... They look practically (or entirely) identical to me.
