I just picked up my copy of Cable & Deadpool #50 D: It's a real shame that the series has come to an end, especially on this note, but at least Deadpool has a couple more appearances lined up in the near future.

Appearences wrote by Daniel Way.... And an ongoing supposedly written by him. A rumour has been floating around about that, but nothing is final yet. Cable is getting one, so I guess it would make sense. But Way? I've heard nothing but bad things about his recent writing. If editorial would just stop screwing with Fabian, things would be a whole lot better. Then agian, Cable wasn't as important a character when C&D started, so *shrugs* If we're lucky. Wade will go back to the GLI and join up formally. Maybe Slott could write them in Avengers: The Initiative. Who knows. This is why I read mostly DC Comics these days. Sure, Didio has destroyed a lot of characters, but I've got Morrison on Batman, a Booster Gold title and Johns on JSA and Action, with Robinson coming to Superman soon. I ♥ DC. ;D I got waay off topic here.

God, Morrison writing Deadpool would be the hobo. As big a Whorrison as I am, I don't think it would work. Maybe he could do something with the Death relationship, but I don't think he could do comedy on such a regular basis. He has his moments, but comedy isn't his forte. Not that his stuff isn't funny at times, mind you.

Morrison's Animal Man - what I've read - was great. His humor is more dry than what would fit with Deadpool, but I can see it working out well if it comes to that.
I used to be really big on DC - comics in general, really - but all of my favorite heroes have, in the past five years, either died, been sent off to limbo, or changed so they've lost all the traits I liked about them in the first place. It all started pretty much when Young Justice got cancelled; I was a huge fan of that title and it brought together two of my favorite heroes (Robin and Impulse), introduced a whole lot more that I'd fall in love with, and it was a really well-written and drawn crossover team book. Since then, my DCU has pretty much gone to hobo ^^ YJ broke up over what I consider to be a bunk reason both in-canon and outside of it; a Superman Robot killing off two members of the Titans while both teams were on a joint mission, especially after Superboy's girlfriend, Empress' father, and then Slo-Bo all died in the line of duty beforehand, seems like a bad call.
Since then, Superboy died, Impulse lost his entire character to become the straight-edged Kid Flash, then got time-advanced to become the new Flash, then died anyway, every other YJ member except Robin and Wondergirl have vanished into obscurity, and those last two that remain have become stick-in-the-mud teen hero clichés. =\ To add onto that, Kyle Rayner got pushed into the background as Green Lantern with Hal Jordan's return, Cassandra Cain got "DiDio'd" and lost every facet that made the character interesting (only to be poorly written away as "Deathstroke used a Bad Writing Drug to turn you evil, Batgirl!" thing, something Inertia has also fallen victim to), Aquaman lost "The Peter David Treatment" (beard, harpoon for a hand - best way to make the biggest joke of a hero not suck anymore) and became a weenie again, Spoiler got killed because Robin fanboys are wizzleing insane and hate her with an inexplicable passion, and - most importantly to me aside from the whole YJ debacle - Plastic Man has been swept under the carpet. I grew up with a lot of those heroes, and it feels like DC has an allergy to comedy in their Super Books, you know? Like it gives 'em a rash. Too much starch in the tights.
So, I really don't read that many comics anymore. I collect a couple indy titles (Gargoyles and Gold Digger), and anything I can find that has Deadpool in it. Marvel hasn't ever really appealed to me since it seems like they're incapable of handling their own Supers without fumbling it and making it really messy (Spider-Man, I'm looking at you) or angsty (Ultimate universe). Sucks that I've become so jaded, so I hope that the rumors of a new Deadpool monthly come to pass. And I hope the writer you mentioned gets his hobo together XD
