Out of all the newcomers introduced in Brawl, who do you feel was the best new addition? If you like, list your multiple favorites. This isn't a thread for who your favorite character to use is, or who you win the most Wi-fi matches with...I'm curious about how you guys feel about Sakurai's choices for newcomers. (Toon Link isn't listed; he's Young Link from SSBM, just with a different appearance)
Who would you want to return in the possible SSB4? Who would you want to get the boot?
I think most all of the newcomers work well, and my favorite additions are Pokemon Trainer and Olimar. These two are very unique fighters with somewhat odd systems, but they work incredibly well and fit right in. A Sheik-style switching system for a trainer was suggested multiple times, all of which I laughed at...but just look at that awesomeness. I had also feared Olimar wouldn't work at all, and again, I was surprised. R.O.B. fits this as well; I refused to believe it when he was announced (I had no idea how he would play), but he's a great fit. Certain popular choices seem to have been ignored, which annoys me somewhat...and of course, several series needed more representation. Overall, however, the characters selected are great representatives for their series, and most are really good choices on Sakurai's part.
For SSB4, I would bring back, unchanged: Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Ike, Trainer and his Pokemon, Meta Knight, Dedede, Pit, Olimar, R.O.B and, provided third-parties return, Snake and Sonic. Wario and Lucas could use slightly revised movesets, in my opinion. I would drop Lucario and Wolf in place of Mewtwo and Krystal, respectively.

Snake and Sonic are definitely my favorites. They should not be removed. Ever.
R.O.B. and Falco/Wolf on the other hand, should.

Wario. Nice to finally have him in there.

There were three characters that got in that I wanted for Melee as well. Wario and Pit got in, and I'm glad they finally did. But my vote has to go to Pokemon Trainer. Why? Because unlike the other two, I seriously didn't think they'd get him to work at all.
But giving us Squirtle AND Charizard in a single character? That's just mighty! No idea how the character plays - I may end up rarely using the bugger - but I'm glad he's not only in the game, but also an intriguing choice.
Squiiiiiirtle *gluglugluglug!*

Got to give Olimar some love.
I've been waiting for King Dedede since the 64 version, but, unfortunately, he's one of my worst characters. Olimar, on the other hand, I didn't actively desire, but I have fallen in love with him. He's one of my best characters, and while I'm not as good with him as I am with Kirby or Falco, I have a lot more fun playing as Olimar. Also, my friends get a lot more frustrated fighting Olimar (which makes it all worth it).
The good news is, I'm very confident Olimar is here to stay and won't be missing should there be a SSB4.

In spirit, the one I love the most is King Dedede, despite not being so great with him - but I'm gonna practice and get better, I swear! Dedede is one of the first final boss characters I ever encountered and most likely the first one I ever beat when I was a kid, so he's got nostalgia points going in his favor. Add to the fact that he's a really intriguing character in a series that's as simple and colorful as Kirby, and that he has a kickass design (he's a fuckin' penguin!), there's just a lot to love and so, so little to hate.
Pit took me by surprise, to be honest, because before Brawl's release I never really had any kind of anticipation for him; it was cool that such a retro character was getting the chance to shine again, but that was about as far as my feelings went for him. But then I got to actually play as him and see him in action in The Subspace Emissary, and my opinion changed drastically; a character like this really ought to have been in Melee, and I'm glad he's around now, because he's so awesome.
Let's see...I'm also going to mention Snake because - yeah, while he opened the floodgates for Sonic and the potential for more third parties in future iterations, but also because his games are so different compared to Nintendo's first and second party stuff. Not just in how they're played, either, but their style, their soul - very, drastically seperate from each other, and then to see him fighting alongside Falco, Fox, Sheik and Lucario - pure winsauce. It shouldn't happen, but it did, and it was great.
Olimar took me by surprise, too, much like Pit - except he appealed to me much earlier. Before he was announced for Brawl, my opinion of the Pikmin games is that they were a bit rubbish simply because I had a hard time playing them. Olimar's inclusion meant two things, though: one, that clearly he was important enough to Nintendo to be included in Brawl, and two, that I should go back and give the Pikmin games a try. I did the latter, and now Pikmin 1 and 2 rank amongst my favorite GCN titles. As a Brawler, he's very technical and I'm struggling to get behind that as I prefer to fight more offensively, but I'll force myself to adapt like I will with Dedede if I have to.
I'm also glad to have Toon Link around because, in my opinion, Wind Waker was a fantastic and bold step in a different direction for the Legend of Zelda series, at least stylistically speaking. I agree that he's really just a contemporary Young Link (much like Link/Zelda/Ganondorf are contemporary versions of themselves and thus aren't really newcomers), but I figure I'd throw it out there.
Though, really - I love all the newcomers pretty much. I was a little irritated at Lucario at first, but I think he's starting to grow on me.

I like R.O.B. the most. I played as it and was very good, actually.

I like all the Newcomers, but Lucas is my favorite. He's very strong and easy to fit my style. His aeriels are strong and two are multi hit attacks, his F-Smash and U-Smash are insanely strong. His tilts are quite good as well. A health restoring special doesn't hurt either. Having another Mother rep is great as well, and Lucas got my interest peaked in Mother 3. I now eagerly await the fanslation.
Diddy & Olimar are both great additons that I am competent with. Diddy especially. His attacks are great, even if his up special is diffucult to get used to. Seeing a 3d Diddy cartwheel again is great. It's been 9 freakin' years since the last 3D DK game, Nintendo! Make another one! And another Pikmin while your at it!
King Dedede and MEta Knight are both great additons, although I'm not good with them. The Kirby series was probably the first series I ever beat, so there is nostalgia there like no other.
Ike is my 2nd best. All offense, all the time. I'm still no good at strategy games, tho, so I probably won't play any of his games.
Sonic and Snake are awesome. Snake plays very uniquely, and I'm decent with him. His attacks take a bit to get used to, and are great if you can use them effectivly. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was my first video game, so seeing Sonic in a Smash Bros. game is amazing. Like EGM said, "A dreams been cast!" A great character as well.

Although from the newcomers I'm better playing as ROB, my favorite one is Pokemon Trainer. Face it, he was the most unexpected character of the game, and carries on a very unique fighting style involving the mastering of not one, not two, but three different characters. Plus he's from my favorite Nintendo series! ;D

Having a hard time picking a favorite here. Diddy and Wario were the obvious choices worthy of getting in. I also picked them in MK64/Double Dash all the time so I just like 'em. Dedede's a loveable fat penguin. Ike's sword makes awesome noises. It's fun throwing Pikmin around with Olimar and Lucas, ROB and Snake are pretty rad in general.
I guess of those I think Lucas, Dedede, ROB and Snake are the most awesome. And Dedede gets my vote because it's fun playing with him online.

Not in a particular order, my favorite newcomers are: 1. Lucas - pretty much another way to play as Ness (one of my favorite veterans), I love his PK Fire and PK Thunder and his up and down smashes. 2. Pit - multiple jumps, Wings of Icarus, horizontal and vertical arrows, love it! 3. Toon Link - way, way, way better than Young Link and Link! Plus I love Wind Waker. and NES Link alternate color is my favorite. 4. Wolf - the only Star Fox character I love to play with, none of that fancy rapid moves if you press a button fast makes him a lot different from Fox and Falco, that inclined side special with the meteor smash at the end is excellent. 5. R.O.B. - absolutely love his up special! His laser eyes are perfect for knocking off opponents and even stealing KOs... and I love the way he moves, its exactly how I would picture R.O.B. as a fighter... and I love his aerial down! 6. Ivysaur - my favorite Pokemon out of all three starters. I love her Bullet Seed, its so fast and can really rack up damage. Plus her aerial up and aerial down feels powerful and her vines have a long reach and that's a good thing... plus she's so unique in that she only fights on all fours. 7. Olimar - oh, yeah... he's the best! Pikmin Pluck is so fast you can build your group in a second or two! His aerials and smashes are always different, poison, fire, electric, or pure brute force. Plus his End of Day owns all.

Hm, my three favorite newcomers would be Ike, Wolf and Toon Link, oddly enough. Ike comes from Fire Emblem, and I love that series (btw, Brawl has renewed my dedication to Path of Radiance). He's a monster in terms of range and damage, and is a fun character to roam around the field with, striking all in his path. He's kind of like a slower, sword-wielding Capt. Falcon, and I dig that. Wolf surprised me the most. I expected him to be cookie cutter, but his fierce style is very savage compared to the composed Starfox pilots. His ripping slashes have a great sound and impact, and his specials are different enough to warrant me enjoying playing as him. A Wolfen would have made a lot more sense than a ripped-off Landmaster, though. Lastly, Toon Link is a cop-out choice in a sense, but I really enjoy playing as him. I just haven't liked playing as Link since SSB64, and Toon Link reminds me a lot of that joy. He is a lot mfaster, has more oomph with his smash attacks, and his move tweaks tend to be better than TP Link's. And the NES alt. is awesome. I also like Lucas (he's quite powerful if you have a good idea of how he works...he got me the Cruel Brawl bonuses), ROB and Pit, but I'm not that great with the latters. Olimar is very technical indeed, so I haven't messed with him that much yet. And I do like Lucario as well, but I do miss Mewtwo, so...

In a three-way battle between Snake, Meta Knight, and Dedede, I ended up choosing Snake. While Meta Knight deals tons o' damage and Dedede has the Smash Hammer of Death, I have non-stop fun dropping C4 around the stage and blowing up people when they least expect it. Also, my friends get a lot more frustrated fighting Olimar (which makes it all worth it). He ain't kidding. His Olimar is unbearably frustrating.

Favourite newcomer? Its got to be Snake, but not only because I love the Metal Gear franchise but because his fighting style is so unique. He is radically different from any other character. I mean worlds apart, you really have to play tactically with Snake. Pull it off and you've got a winner!
And what a sweet ass ;D
