Tough one. In terms of Nintendo games, I reckon I'll say Donkey Kong Arcade. Theres a few non-nintendo games, too (Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Pong), as well as more Nintendo ones (SMB, SM64, TLOZ, hell, even SMK). But I'll go with DK Arcade.

Kinda hard for Metroid Prime to be the most influential game ever when it only came out a couple years ago. It DESERVES to be influential, yes... but that doesn't mean it is

It also hasn't lead to many games with the same formula... infact, perhaps GTA 3 could win this, too, due to the amount of GTA clones on the current market.

I would say the most influential game should be one that broke all kinds of new ground - based on little if anything that came before, and has single-handedly created a significant genre.

I agree -hence my vote for DK Arcade. Just saying that GTA 3 has definately influenced the current gaming world.

I'd say Super Mario Bros. It was what started platform adventures. Then Ocarina of Time. The lock-on mode is used in practically EVERY weopon-based adventure game. And just to make a point, I'll add in Banjo-Kazooie. Since then, I've never seen so many adventure games, all at the same time, where you play as two characters (ahem.., Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter). What copy-cats.

I'd vote for SM64, because at the time it practically reinvented the platformer, and pretty much invented the "adventure" game.
But I've decided only to vote if there are tie-breakers to sort out.
