No Wii Games My Ass

Even though I post on a Nintendo fanboy forum right now, to be honest I've never really been a true Nintendo fanboy. Matter of fact, what I like about Nintendo most is their mythos of characters. I like their obscure ones to their most popular ones, maybe except for characters like Krystal and Lucario.

However I'm really sick and tired of people saying that there's no good Wii games. Why do people say this? And why do people think the 360 and even the PS3 have superior libraries when pretty much most of the good games you get on these system you can get on a PC already and play it on a superior platform (I'm going to get labeled as a PC elitist for that, but whatever)? And no for wizzle's sake 360 fanboys, Halo 3 is NOT a good game, the whole damn series is just a rehash of Marathon plus multiple old other FPS stapled together with some of the most annoying and draining multiplayer matches online I've ever experienced in my FPS playing life. I'm sick and tired of people even suggesting to buy Halo 3 for the 360. The only good thing about the 360 is when there's a multiplatform game coming out on the 360 and PS3 and it's easier to play it on the 360 since you don't have to download GB of material to play it like with the PS3.

The PS3 also has only about 10 good games out on the market right now if you only count the exclusives, but admittedly it has the best online and there's loads of good exclusive games coming out for it that I'm looking forward to, so actually I'd say the PS3 is even better than 360.

The Wii however, it does stand up above both systems in one thing: Most exclusive titles. It has loads of great titles made exclusive for the system. While it is outnumbered by the amount of shovelware, it's really underrated. Matter of fact I just counted up every good Wii game already out and coming out:

Most of these are exclusives, except RE4 and the first Trauma Center game which is a remake, yet both are in their best on the Wii. The only ones I'm having doubts about is Castlevania Judgement, The Conduit, and Red Steel 2, but from what I've heard about all three of them; Castlevania is apparently actually pretty good and is more of an adventure/action game than a fighting game, The Conduit plays fluid FPS controls, and Red Steel 2 is actually aiming to be a good game this time unlike the first one. But whatever the case is, all the games that are listed that are out which I've played are all really good games.

When you count all of these Wii exclusives, and count all of the good 360 and PS3 exclusive games or multiplatform games, I'd say the amount is pretty equal. So I really don't see what's peoples points in saying that one is superior from the other, because generally from what I've seen from all libraries on each system: They all suck. But that's just me.

I totally agree that the PS3 does not have an awesome library, and I've never heard anyone say that. Ever. Where did you hear it?

Out of every system out now though, I'd have to say the best is the PSP. Then comes the Wii and DS right after. (No one ever considers handhelds as systems)

My favorite system is the DS. I love the Wii, but I want a 360 because a lot of good games are coming out on it that I want badly. Soul Calibur IV, Street Fighter IV, FFXIII... but only things I would get a PS3 for are Blu-Ray, MGS4, and playing against one of my friends in SFIV.

What exactly is "excessive" knowledge? I mean, I would say someone who knows way more than is average on a subject is a geek on that subject (people who memorise football leagues, for example, are football geeks, etc.)

I am a Nintendo geek.

But fanboy suggests more than just knowledge. It suggests a devotion to the subject that goes beyond knowledge, and into the realms of illogical justification and needless defensive action.

I like to think that I'm a videogame fanboy rather than a Nintendo fanboy, but then that would be a lie... I'm a Nintendo fanboy at heart

I, like our friend Luke up there, really love Nintendo's backlog of bizarre characters and worlds. Otherwise, the video game industry as a whole is a huge crock and I'd rather not get involved.

The discussion here is about how people are ALWAYS complaining about how there's "no games" on the Wii when there actually is. Also these people tend to overexaggerate the library of the 360 too. I'm just tired of that, and wanted to know what the dudes at Nintendo Database thought about that situation.

Don't really know about the other consoles, but the Wii's got a decent enough library of games.


So far there's nothing to look forward to when it comes to new Wii games though, for me anyway

People criticise the Wii for not having anything worth playing on it. As your list shows, there's a good balance of first- and third-party games in there. Throw in improved GC and PS2 ports as well and you have a mighty library.

On that note, don't you love it when people moan that the Wii got a bunch of PS2/GCN ports at the start of its life, even if they never actually played the original games? That's retarded. I'm personally elated that we got Okami, Bully and Resi5 on Wii, because I didn't get a chance to play any of them before. And Twilight Princess is still one of my favourite games on the system (on any system!)

Thing is, if you bought every good game on the Wii, including WiiWare and Virtual Console, it'd cost you an absolute fortune and you'd never have time to play them all. I mean, I'm still working my way through some of my Gamecube titles! And my DS is pretty much stagnant at the moment (aside from the odd rousing game of Picross on my rare train journeys).

I don't know what people expect. I've made this argument before regarding older consoles. Look at the Super NES library for example, often regarded as one of the finest game libraries of all time. Nintendo released a tiny trickle of games over the first couple of years, and the third parties were slow to respond as well.

People want a load of games, even though they will never buy them. The problem people have at the moment is that there seems to be a poor ratio of great games against the cavalcade of shovelware, and that's all anyone can see.

In the coming months, I'm looking forward to Wario Land Shake and Mad World. If Captain Rainbow gets an EU release date, I'll snatch that up too. But really, I'm happy working through the games I have and then catching up on any I missed along the way.

In short, my view of the Wii is that while its hardware is not quite decent (having you read pixels, bad user interface for traditional gamers IMO, and so on), its software library is pretty good. A lot of major games get a continuation here, and it's got some pretty good 3rd party games (although it's not my style to appreciate them anyway). I still dislike its interface and lack of resolution, but that's pretty much it.

One final comment for Wii, though... WHERE IS KIRBY?

Most people say there arent enough good games on the Wii because there are not enough games on the Wii that carther to them (Like FPS, grity stuff and Grand Theft auto) I heve been a gamer since the 80`s and I prefer coloful games with original protagonists there are not many of those in the PS3, 360 so under my asuption there are no goos games on those systems (seriosly the only games on those systems that interest me are Soul Calibur IV and Banjo 3)

I actually agree with the notion of there not being any decent Wii games on sale.

Out of the first list, I'm only interested in (and have got) Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Mario Kart Wii, and out of the second list, none of it particularly appeals to me.

At the moment, the only game that I'm looking forward to is Pikmin 3 (which isn't actually on your list).

So far, there have only been a few Wii games that I actually enjoy playing. However, the Wii is still my favorite of the three consoles. I'm certainly not a fanboy, though.

I agree that PS3 has an awful selection of games. With the obvious exception of the Rachet & Clank series.

Rare is the only thing that could motivate me to buy a 360, at the moment. The only imaginative titles coming out on that console are Viva Pinata: TiP and BK: N&B.

I find it quite odd that people complain about the Wii's library when the DS's is full of lame low budget 3rd-party-company-that-no-ones-ever-heard-of crap. But thats just me.
