Nintendo added more DSi images to their press website. Since I already posted about them on my blog (I just got complete, non-temporary access the press website!), I'll just link to the post: blognintendo.wordpress.com/2009/02/24/even-more-nintendo-dsi-photos/Yes, I now it is shameless self-promotion. But I can live with the fact knowing I shared these pictures with the entire NinDB community... xD. (It's probably more of use to fry or someone, then to regular members... unless you want high-resolution pics of the DSi of course. Which reminds me, there are more posts with official DSi images on the same site.)

Part 2 of Iwata Asks DSi interview is up, this time they talk about the photo editing and sound player functions with the DSi design team and Miyamoto (because he had quite a bit of involvement with it). Also did any of you know that there is now a rainbow pen in the DSi's Pictochat? (it will even appear in colour when communicating with normal DS's as well).

Now, I'm curious...does the DSi have any actual - you know - games for it? Aside from the nigh-shovelware* minigames we've seen so far and the WarioWares. I haven't heard anything, but to be fair I haven't kept up with much in the way of gaming news for a while, now.
Also, does the DS store offer anything of any significance? What I've seen in the topic so far hasn't impressed me very much, but I'd like to see something worthwhile. Like, old GB titles and such.
* And because I know I'm going to get grief for it, "shovelware" to me means low-budget, low-quality "games," in which the term "games" is only fractionally applied to their intended context within the gaming industry (I.E. Super Mario Galaxy as a game versus Nintendogs as a game).

Actually, I like it this way. I don't want to see my DS, with only about 7 games bought, have no more new games. And it's not like this is a Game Boy Color. Not the time for one, either - it's only four years. (But then, GBA had a amazingly short live for 4 years as well.)

I consider games poorly built to be shovelware. Games that lack the dedication or polish.
I don't believe it has to do with how complex a game is. But I would have to agree that nothing seems that good on the DSiWare.

Ooooh a rainbow pen...
That's it though? They didn't even bother to update the interface. They just copy-pasta'd it from the normal DS.

But I would have to agree that nothing seems that good on the DSiWare. Like I said, though, it was a matter of opinion. *shrug* I guess I would have been more accurate in saying "casual" rather than "shovelware," but to me they're really one in the same. Maybe it's just because I have a low tolerance threshold for puzzle games. Tetris and Dr. Mario have done fine by me for years XD

Here's come another 3rd party DSi game Mighty Flip Champs! . . . made by Wayforward (Contra 4, LIT and A Boy and His Blob Wii). - developed exclusively for DSiWare - Alta is the main character - control Alta as she warps through maze-like chambers as they flip as if they’re pages from a book - Action on top screen - Bottom screen shows preview of next room, and position Alta will warp to - warp safely from room to room without getting crushed, falling or causing some other kind of issue - traps, puzzles and more - directed by Matt Bozon, Shantae’s daddy - no release date/price point just yet, but they are expected to release this info before the DSi launches And here's an enlarged image.

RUMOR! This info supposedly comes from one of the DSi VIP events Nintendo held. - downloadable Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles are coming - first party titles only at start of service - region locked - save/run from SD card
New DSiWarcoming to Japan! No Art Style games unfortunately, but the Band Bros DX radio station app sounds cool. Copy/Pasted from Siliconera.200 points. Two more Nintendo themed clocks based on Super Mario Brothers and Animal Crossing will go on sale for 200 DSiWare Points ($2) a piece. A bit of Magic Encyclopedia: Love or Dislike Detection Tool - a microphone based “detector” that can be used to determine if someone likes you or not. Get it for 200 DSiWare points, use at your own risk. 500 Points. One of the more creative applications is the Photo Stand Band Brothers Radio DX. For 500 DSiWare points ($5) you can stream music based from the user created tunes from Band Brothers DX. The application has a variety of stations like this week’s top ten, hot songs from a single artist, hello newcomer for new music tracks, a hip hop station, and even a video game music station. Barbara the Bat acts as an announcer so it’s almost like having access to a real radio station. While you’re listening to music you can display your photos which explains the “Photo Stand” part in the title. (Coolest sheep image I have ever seen). Ganin de Keshite Wakugumi no Jikan - Mitchell, the company that produced Polarium, developed this 500 DSiWare Point puzzle game where you slide black squares to encircle white squares or vice versa. You can make boxes or irregular shapes. As long as one color captures the other you clear pieces. Ganbaru Watashi no Osaifu Ouendan (roughly: I Can Do It My Wallet Cheerleader) - Portable budgeting software that can export data to PC applications via CSV (comma separated value) files. You can set a monthly budget and track up to 25 months of data with the 500 DSiWare Point application.
