We may have noticed these a lot, but here goes: Jump Super Stars[/u] (DS) This looks like that anime/manga magazine's answer to it. Too bad this can't be released anywhere due to too much licensing for all the series in there. The panels on the bottom screen apparently boost your character's stats in battle.  Jump Ultimate Stars (DS) Um, the sequel to Jump Super Stars?  Battle Stadium D.O.N. (GC, PS2) More of a 2.5D version of the previous two, but only with the following this time: Dragon Ball Z One Piece Naruto  DreamMix TV World Fighters (GC, PS2) This one features Optimus Prime, Simon Belmont, Bomberman, Solid Snake (so he HAS had experience with this before...), among others.  Power Stone seriesWell, kind of. Difference is you're just moving all around 3-D this time.  Kingdom Hearts seriesIts Disney counterpart. Need I say more? There are actually a lot more than these, but I'll stop here. |

... So is this about how they're alike as in they're cross-overs or as in they're party fighters? 'Cause Kingdom Hearts ain't no party fighter and this list is missing a shitload of Capcom VS etc titles.

Just bringing Disney worlds together in a near-similar fashion of Smash bringing all things Nintendo together (The Timeless River part in KH2 did in fact bring G&W to mind, hint hint). Apparently, KH even uses world icons like Smash does.
So in that regard, the part about KH was a joke.

Kingdom Hearts is nothing like Smash Bros., except for the fact it's a crossover, so Boo Destroyer, you're kinda damaging your post there. If it's there as a joke, it's not a funny or particularly well delivered one.
But it would be interesting to me if we could also look at other games built entirely around crossovers. Konami has done loads of them dating right back to the Famicom, Capcom has their Capcom vs. titles, and Sega has the Sega Superstar games. But I don't actually know a whole lot about these, and I'm curious to know if there are any more out there?

Well as far as party fighters go, there's that Kungfu Ragdoll game on what I think was the Playstation... but I fogot it's name. There was also that Japan-only Famicom game made with the River City Ransom engine that looks like a 4-player battlefest. Not sure if it was actually supported by that 4 joysticks adapter thing though. As far as crossovers go, yeah Konami already did a bunch with it's own series in the past with the Wai Wai World games and Parodius. Also there were 2 RPG games on the Famicom based on those Jump comics aswell. |

All I ever notice about Hudson Soft is the Bomberman series. All their other stuff is overlooked.

Well, outside of Bomberman, Adventure Island, Star Soldier and Bonk, Hudson doesn't have a whole lot of games. They were known for plenty of others way back when.

Rakugaki Showtime is a cool Treasure "Smash Bros." with mostly original characters but a very similar gameplay. It's done in 3D with the "paper" style, but the specials and items work very similarly. The game also features Marina Liteyears in her second and final appearance  |

Also, seeing as how very few Disney worlds actually intersect with each other - if any at all, really - Kingdom Hearts isn't very much like Smash Bros. at all. There are a lot of Disney franchises represented by the series, but that's all, really.
In that respect, Sega Superstar Tennis is more like SSB than Kingdom Hearts.

Well this should interest some of you guys. A new Teenage Mutant Turtles game is coming to the Wii. Why is this so special you ask? Because it's being made by select staff that worked on Smash Bros and on Team Ninja (TN being responsible for Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive series). Source.EDIT: More info! SEGA also created Fighters Megamix, which mostly featured characters from the Virtua Fighter series and the first Fighting Vipers game, as well as other SEGA AM2 games. From Akira Yuki of the Virtua Fighter series to the Hornet car from the Daytona USA series. From Bahn of Fighting Vipers to Taro Yamada (a.k.a. Rent-A-Hero) from Rent-A-Hero (and three years after the release of Fighters Megamix, Rent-A-Hero No. 1). The game even included a few joke characters like the palm tree from the SEGA AM2 logo, and an Arabian-style character name Siba from a prototype of the first Virtua Fighter, which was replaced with Akira Yuki by the time of the first Virtua Fighter's actual release, though an icon featuring him (and mislabeled as "Akira") appears on older Virtua Fighter 1 arcade cabinets. Interestingly, I heard that the credits theme of Fighters Megamix was later used as a theme for Shenmue, another series of SEGA AM2's games. Before Jump Super Stars, Jump Ultimate Stars and Battle Stadium D.O.N., there was the Famicom Jump series; however, they were RPGs. 15 years before Konami worked with Hudson Soft and Takara on DreamMix TV World Fighters, they released Konami Wai Wai World. It was the earliest cross-over Konami has ever made. Also, it was the first cross-over to include a couple of characters not created by the game's developer: Mikey from the Goonies and King Kong, which they were used to represent both Goonies 1 and 2 and King Kong 2: Ikari no Megaton Punch. The King of Fighters series was also a cross-over fighting game series that featured characters from the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series with some exclusive characters like Kyo Kusanagi. Later, SNK created Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, which included some of the King of Fighters cast and some characters from other SNK games. After ADK went out of business, SNK took all of their stuff and added some characters from ADK's World Heroes series and Aggressors of Dark Kombat into Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. |
