You know when you hear about a game, and you just wanna spread the word? I thought I'd start up a semi-regular feature where I'll showcase some up and coming games that you guys might not have heard about! I'll try and update it once a week with a new game, but of course this might be subject to delays Please bear in mind that some of these games are a long way off and might turn out crap upon release, but at the moment they look interesting! You never know, right? OK, first one: Fantasy LifePublisher: Level-5 Developer: Brownie Brown From the guys that brought us Professor Layton, think of this as an RPG that's a bit light on the G. Basically, pick a fantasy job like Postman, Alchemist, Jester, Farmer etc and Fantasy Life then builds a game around your chosen profession, changing objectives and rewards to fit. I think there's only one or two "violent" jobs like knight, but the focus is on social role-play. Think of it as Harvest Moon set in a job centre! The wifi multiplayer looks interesting too! Definitely one to watch. ALSO: Watch out for something like this in the 4th Professor Layton! As an unlockable extra you get London Life, where you get to skip around the big city as a tiny Layton, making people happy!

This is also from the makers of MOTHER 3. I might check this because of that alone.

Mother 3 and the Magical Vacation/Starsign games! Although Level-5 is one of my favourite third-party developers right now, so this is a damn good combination. You can definitely see the influence of both teams in the artwork/screenshots above. To be the bossy forum admin for a second though, this would do better with its own topic in the third party forum. But hey. That's just me

Ah yes, it might be better in the third-party forum, but I might find a Nintendo game to talk about at some point! Plus people will pay more attention to it on this board

I think Level-5 doesn't have a non-Japenese in-house publishing office?
Considering Nintendo published Layton outside Japan and this is a Brownie Brown game, it's likely to see they publish this game as well.
The screenshots look... Brownie Brownish. And Level-5ish characters they have. I've yet to play anything from either developer though.
Might as well give a try. Nintendo really should put these things on Nintendo Channel so we can download and try!

Maestro! Jump in MusicPublisher: Neko Developer: Pasta Games An interesting little game, this. Basically its a rhythm action game thats a sidescrolling platformer! Strum your character to move him up and down different "string" platforms to avoid danger, each strum making a note of a tune. Occasionally tapping enemies to add drums or claps to the melody. Each level has a different style with different instruments to sound out: tracing lines of seaweed in an underwater level makes a xylophone sound, strum a ladder like a harp! Apparently there's gonna be some great classical and modern songs, get the platforming right and you'll sound wonderful!

Ghost TrickPublisher: Capcom Developer: Capcom Wondering what the Phoenix Wright team are up to nowadays? Apart from the Miles Edgeworth game, of course. Introducing Ghost Trick! You start the game dead. From there on, you need to posess items in a puzzle-solvy way to bring your muderer to justice and protect your girlfriend! For example, the first task your recently deceased character has to deal with is saving your girlfriend from the guy who just shot you. Try posessing a guitar (you're in an alleyway with loads of handy junk) and you can distract the shooter with a tune, but unfortunately he's just shocked by the sound and pulls the trigger! Its a case of using items smartly. You're limited to posessing stuff thats close to you, so its a case of posess-the-ladder-and-knock-it-over to reach-the-bicycle-which-rolls-to-the-next-item and so on. It promises to have a sense of humour to balance out the morbid stuff, and I can't wait to see if the Ace Attorney step-ladder joke is referenced again! Should be fun.

The art style is very slick, and if the puzzles, story and character interactions are as great as the Phoenix Wright games, this is definitely one I'm keeping my eye on

Does anyone know when Wario Ware DIY is coming out? Nothing has been said about that game! At least it was announced for western release at E3. I would assume it's coming out next year with major releases such as NSMBWii and TLoZ:ST this month and next respectively.

Shadow TowerPublisher: Konami Developer: Hudson Great concept, this one. Basically, you're a character that only exists as a shadow, and you've got to complete the platformy levels by altering the shadow of the landscape. You team up with a "black fairy" who can shift the source of light, making the shadows move and lengthen! Plus, you gotta look out for things that appear in shadow but not in the physical world. Its a constant balance, trying to tackle puzzles over these 2 dimensions! The art-style is just gorgeous.
