Yeahyeah we're already in the... tens or whatever you call it. Still I wanted to ask you people what your favorite 2009 release was for Wii/DS. And other systems if you really want to share so badly.
For the Wii I'm kinda on the fence between NSMBWii and Boy and his Blob. Both are charming and fun to play, but I think I'm gonna pick NSMBWii. Haven't had the chance to play it with more people yet, but the singleplayer is still a polished, great 2d platformer. Still A Boy and his Blob is fun and just pretty to look at. Hug button's cute 'n all, but it sounds like he's taking a dump whenever I press it.
As for DS definitely Rythm Heaven. It's silly, adorable and just great to pick up and play. Scribblenauts comes second, mostly because whenever I'm frustrated with a puzzle I can just detonate a nuke and annihilate every bastard on screen before shutting it off.
Buttload of good Wiiware titles came out last year also. Swords & Soldiers (crazy chaotic multiplayer), Bubble Bobble Plus (co-op fun), Excitebike Rally (simple, fun onlinemode), Castlevania Rebirth (classic whipping action), Contra Rebirth (pretty explosions), Gradius Rebirth (tough as nails)... damn hard to pick a favorite out of these.
But if I have to I think I'm gonna have to go with... Excitebike Rally. With it's simple gameplay and a casual kind of online mode I keep coming back for it despite my unhealthy Civ4/TF2 addiction.

Best Wii game was New Super Mario Bros. Wii, although I will extend a shout-out to Wii Sports Resort and Punch-Out!!, both of which provided mucho entertainment throughout the quiet year. On the DS, I'm still slowly working through some of the big releases (Spirit Tracks, M&L: Bowser's Inside Story, Scribblenauts), but I think my 2009 award for DS has to go to Flipnote Studio... which has the benefit of being awesome and totally free! So yes... Here's hoping 2010 brings us the announcement of a new system for release late in 2011, along with the handful of awesome experimental games that usually come with a system's dying days!

Jeez, this is tough...considering I only touched my Wii (haha) for homebrew...
Oh! Definitely Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the DS. I love that game.

Considering I have been playing non-2009 games all the way in that year, I don't think I have much choice here. Just M&L3 and New SMB Wii.
Like New SMB Wii better, but M&L3's not bad either.

I'd have to add to the overwhelming support for New SMB Wii, as that was just an awesome experience. Deadly Creatures is well done, and MadWorld's fun, but neither quite top the overall excellence and awesome retro moments I had with NSMBW.

Didnt play NSMB Wii, but I'm assuming its good If you liked any of the other 2D Mario games, then you should enjoy it rather a lot! Especially if you're joined by some other players (although just one extra will usually suffice).

Well that checks those boxes, and the general consensus is positive so I'm likely to partake ;D And if we are going into Virtual Console releases for 2009, I actually got Super Smash Bros. which I enjoyed better than on an emulator.

I played Smash Bros on the 64 back then =P
Is SSB64 good on emulator? From my experience with Yoshi's Story on VC, I don't really like VC anymore now.
And I still have 2000 points unspent. Will probably use 1000 on You, Me and the Cube.

New Super Mario Bros. Beatles Rock Band was pretty awesome too, but I didn't play it on Wii.
....I Don't even remember buying a DS game this year. I probably did, but they must be forgettable as.

For the Wii, I haven't bought any new Wii games, but I got Cooking Mama Cook Off for Christmas without asking for it, but I never opened nor even played it before I got it.
For WiiWare, the only WiiWare game I downloaded this year was Pokemon Rumble, and it's pretty good, especially when you obtain the limited edition Charizard.
For the Virtual Console, all I bought in 2009 were Super Smash Bros., Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars, Pulseman and Fighting Street. I had fun with Super Smash Bros. the most, because I found some unusual glitches I think no one else ever found. Fighting Street was okay, especially when I use the "easier controls" code. Pulseman was fun, but I haven't beat it, yet. Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars was also okay, but it would of been better if the superior arcade version was on the Virtual Console.
For Nintendo DS, the 2009 releases I bought were Pokemon Platinum, The Legendary Starfy and Fossil Fighters.
On the positive side, the download events of Pokemon Platinum as well as the Shaymin one for Diamond and Pearl, were the ones that made me decide to buy them. Shortly before them, I didn't have much interest in the Pokemon franchise, because of how complicated it is. It felt more like a chore than a game. Also, the large number of cute Pokemon made me afraid that it will prove to my family that I'm not growing up, but I remember seeing even several young adults interested in the franchise in some E3 photos, mainly because of the gameplay. For Fossil Fighters, I had the Japanese version in my M3 DS Real and thought about supporting it some. The gameplay is okay. For The Legendary Starfy, I bought it to increase its chance at having the rest of its franchise brought oversees or allow him to appear in the next SSB game if there will be one. The music is one of my favorite things in Starfy, while the gameplay is also still good compared to its four predecessors.
On the negative side, Pokemon Platinum and Fossil Fighters felt more like chores than games, while the text seen in The Legendary Starfy makes me wonder if it matches its Japanese counterpart's or not. The Mermaid's "Hi hi!" quote was simply changed to "Hi!", while some other voices like the quote of Kyorosuke/Moe, "Ikuzo!" (lit. "Let's go!") were removed, but that's not so bad.
Overall, I'm kind of leaning towards The Legendary Starfy more myself. Although I play Pokemon Platinum the most because I have so many unfinished tasks, I prefer simple, easy and fun gameplay with an interesting plot added to it.

I don't really remember buying a whole lot this year for the Wii or DS. I guess my votes go to NSMBW and Mario & Luigi 3...but at the same time, Mario & Luigi had heaping spoonfuls of FURY. ;D
For the 360, though, my vote is tied between Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands, and Left 4 Dead 2. >_>

I'm going to say Resident Evil: the Darkide Chronicles. NSMBWii is fun, but after having your brother pick you up and chuck you down a pit/in lava for the 500th time, it gets real annoying.

That's the best part of the game. Well when you're the one doing the killing. Be less shit and kill him first.
