Yeah I read about it before. List is bogus since they just polled a bunch of videogame nerds what their favorite games were and made an ALL TIME BEST list out of it.
Next time they should ask middle schoolers what their favorite artists are. WOAH Lady Gaga's the best artist of ALL TIME?!

Apparently Pong is better than anything with Tom Clancy's name on it. That begs the question, how would Tom Clancy's Pong rank? ;D

Looks like it's based on the opinions of native English gamers. Why not combine it with Japan's? It'll probably include the Touhou Project franchise.

Sorry about that guys, I've been quite busy with my last days of my current college class, which was tough enough to make my brain tired of bringing out the right words.
I've been seeing Touhou Project stuff more than Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

Parrot, I hate to push this further, but really, he has a point. Top *insert number* lists like this are popularity contests. So you're not going to see Touhou Project even provided as much.
There really is no accurate way to do this, since all polls of the sort depend on getting people to reply, and the only people who are going to reply are the people who are paying attention, which means the people who it applies to most, in this example gamers. Now, that RuneScape even MADE that list is completely bogus, since it's one game with currently somewhere in the 100,000's (I'm not sure on the exact number, but it's less than a million and more than 100,000) playing it GLOBALLY. And that it beat Final Fantasy just makes the list all the more hilariously lame. Congrats, Guinness (if it really was you responsible.) You managed to gather severe failure like it was failure season and the fail trees were having a bumper crop of fail.

Another reason why I did not mention the DQ and FF franchises is that I'm not interested in them and don't think about them much.

Just because YOU'RE not interested in them doesn't add to the fact that they are the most popular series in Japan by far. Toohoo whatever isn't a big name series, and the fact that it's Japan only probably means that its not popular enough to come stateside.
The Dragon Quest series is the ALL TIME highest selling franchise in Japan by far. If this list was made for Japan it would include DQ, Final Fantasy, and Monster Hunter at the very top.
