Every so often there's a cross-over that is so amazing, nobody sees it coming. Smash Brothers, Namco X Capcom, Mario & Dragon Quest are just some examples. But today, Nintendo has announced something so amazing, it makes the rest look like a pile of puke. Yes, those are Pokemon teaming up with historical samurai warlords. First they partnered up with Takamaru, now the cast of Samurai Warriors gets to prove who can be the ultimate Pokemon Master. Team ups include: - Nobunaga Oda & Zekrom
- Kenshin Uesugi & Mewtwo
- Shingen Takeda & Groudon
- Oichi & Jigglypuff
- Mitushide Akechi & Articuno
This SRPG is being released sometime next year for DS.

Well, well, well. This sounds interesting. Honestly I'm quite embarrassed I've never heard of Koei (I just learned about last weak that it's Activision who makes all those Call of Duties, despite their popularity among the masses. Eh, ignorance is bliss, I guess) but this could just be the interesting Pokemon Spin-off I've been waiting for. Plus, any excuse to use Mewtwo is awesome in my book (SAKURAAAAAAAIIII). Oh, and your image is dead or just no appearing for me. Here's Serebii's page about it, some images can be seen there. Loving the artwork for Articuno, Groudon and Mewtwo.

Fixed the picture.
Here's some footage from Jump Festa. Hideyoshi teaming up with Infernape is perfect.
I love how all the warlords have Pokeball logos on their clothes. A perfect minor detail that could be easily missed.

I first heard of Koei when I saw a gameplay video of the NES Karate Champ with arranged music from Koei's Romance of The Three Kingdoms franchise as BGM. Then I became familiar with Koei after they added some titles to the Virtual Console while being merged into Tecmo as Tecmo Koei.
I'm not sure if I have any reason to buy this cross-over, but I probably will if I look through Koei's history.
The oldest cross-over I can think of is Konami Wai Wai World for the Famicom.

I laughed when I saw the poster. Pokémon in SRPG.... with the Samurai Warrior cast (as commanders who won't fight physically, I guess).... That sounds interesting indeed. See official site to watch the vid that's not recorded off-screen.

Ahahahahaha, WHAT?
This is so absurd it might just work!
I like that Jigglypuff's among the Pokemon hanging out with legendary warriors. We can probably thank Smash for that!

Pokemon? As a tactical RPG? With samurai warlords instead of little kids? Sign me the hell up!
Also, as I mentioned on Twitter earlier, here's hoping some future Pokemon movie will make use of this concept as well. That would truly be something to behold.

Two popular franchise in Japan team up hm? It's too bad they don't listen to what crossovers us Westerners want.

Some more information from Koei Warriors.
The game takes place on an alternate earth in the Ranse region. Your character teams up with Eevee and must conquer 17 other castles (17 pokemon types?) in the land. Once you've unified the land, an event will trigger that relates to a legend of the region.

Now that I bothered to actually watch the video... it's basically a Pokemon Strategy RPG huh? Now I'm hella pumped
As long as it has VS multiplayer options though, that was the only thing really missing from the FFTA games.

Holy. (-l[]l-);;;;;
My brothers loved Samurai Warriors to bits, and now this. Might this somehow connect SW to Nintendo world somehow?

Team Plasma owns Mewtwo now! j/k, but seriously, Pokémon Gray will need to be extraordinarily cool in order to defeat the coolness of this

Nintendo is batshit crazy for not releasing this as a 3DS game. Looks neat, though.
