I'm considering hosting it on my Twitch channel and hanging out in my chat in case any of you guys want to see my comments or chat about it with me. Although, it would be the American Direct.

I almost never visit Twitch because it confuses me. Whenever I get a link to an archived stream, I go there and see nothing (empty video, with a notice saying this streamer isn't currently streaming). I also can't seem to find more info about individual streamers easily.
I don't have an account, and I block ads. Maybe those have to do with the apparent broken state of the site?
Post by Nester the Lark on Feb 12, 2019 14:43:20 GMT -5
Not having an account shouldn't matter. Don't know about the ad blocker.
As for not seeing archived videos, it might be the case that videos are, by default, automatically archived for only two weeks unless the broadcaster specifically saves them. Even then, that might change the URL.
But I've had the site be finicky for me, too, in different ways.

Prediction, just for fun: Fire Emblem Three Houses will come out on 20 April, as it's the Japanese release dates of Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (1990), Path of Radiance (2005) and Echoes (2017). Awakening barely missed that with a 19 April release date.
Outside of Fire Emblem, I'm going to guess I'll see nothing I want. Maybe more on Yoshi's Crafted World, but it's currently off my radar. Probably nothing for Animal Crossing or Luigi's Mansion, as I think those will be for the latter half of the year.
Post by Nester the Lark on Feb 13, 2019 14:26:15 GMT -5
I'm going to predict that Three Houses will be delayed until later this year (as per a recent rumor).
A Square Enix producer retweeted the direct, so there will probably be some news from them. Likewise, the guy who created Senran Kagura also retweeted it, but it'd be kinda weird to see something like Senran Kagura in the Direct. (Maybe only the Japanese one.)
Otherwise, I expect updates on stuff we already know about. For some reason, I feel like they might show something for Daemon X Machina. Also, obligatory indie game stuff.
I'd like to see something from SNK, like confirmation of the new Samurai Shodown coming to Switch, but I think SNK is more likely to save any updates for that game for Evo Japan this weekend.
Overall, I don't really know what to expect. At 35 minutes, it's a pretty decent length, so there's room for surprises.
My predictions (some of which is based off a lot of rumors) - The last and truly final 3DS game port - Style Savvy for the Switch - Metroid Prime Trilogy HD Collection (gives Retro a chance to practice FPS controls for Switch) - amiibo or special edition announced for FE: Threehouses - Pokemon gen 8 reveal - Pikmin 3 Switch port - Mario vs DK Switch version - More details for FFCC Remastered - Monolith Soft reveals their next game? - Some more content for Nintendo Switch Online? (SNES games?) - Panic Button ports another unexpected 3rd party game to Switch
There's a rumor of Star Fox Grand Prix finally being revealed but I don't want to believe it because it sounds so crazy. Another crazy idea I had is Fatal Frame 6 but that would probably be an E3 reveal for a Halloween release. I want to think there's going to be more but it seems like too many BIG announcements (like expected for E3 announcements) in one Direct otherwise I'm putting my expectations too high. Then again we got the Smash Bros tease/Inkling Direct reveal just under a year ago so it doesn't seem impossible to know what BIG announcements could happen.

Kinda relived that some of those rumors didn't come true.
- Missed the first 30 seconds and didn't see the Mario Maker 2 and it's wonderful reveal of slopes being in the game. Didn't really play much of the first game. - CAPTAIN MARVEL IN CINEMAS THIS MARCH, CAPTAIN MARVEL IN CINEMAS THIS MARCH, CAPTAIN MARVEL IN CINEMAS THIS MARCH - Why are Disney Tsum Tsum's even a thing? - More SF content for Starlink was unexpected considering that game seems to have bombed and is super cheap. - FE:TH looks interesting - "Captain Toad gonna make you regret getting 3DS version DLC pack" - Even Tetris is following the battle royale trend. - Dragon Quest XI looks nice, surprised to see it got such focus though. - Boxboy sequel looks fun (still need to play 2 and 3) - Asteral Chain looks amazing.

Alright, here goes:
Super Mario Maker 2 β This is glorious. I went from "What, another port?" to "Oh they listened! We finally have slopes!" to seeing the advance menu and finally to seeing the big, red 2 in the title logo. This is how you sell a similar-but-different sequel to someone who hates Wii U ports. They even have autoscroll options, more terrain and item types, a Super Mario 3D World theme, more level themes, coloured pipes, parachutes and so many more options!
To be released in June 2019. I'll have to see what the whole game has to offer before buying. Super Mario Maker 1 is way too unfair to my taste. Requiring players to beat user-created levels for costumes should never happen. (Speaking of which, I don't think costumes will be in Super Mario Maker 2.) MAYBE vote.
MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order β I heard about this game before. It's quite interesting to see KOEI TECMO GAMES to develop and Nintendo to publish a Marvel-themed game. NO vote.
BOXBOY! & BOXGIRL! β Physical release please? NO vote in its current form.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate β They spent a whole minute announcing nothing. Of course a new version is coming! Announcing that but not its contents is a waste of time. NO vote (for the DLC, as it currently stands).
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Nintendo Switch) β Meh. NO vote.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night β I didn't really pay close attention to this game, but it looks a lot better than I expected. MAYBE vote.
Doraemon: Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari β I didn't see this coming. Whoa. NO vote.
New games coming soon β I like how games with completely different themes get rapid-fired here. It's like all these games rented a single TV ad spot for cost reasons.
Dragon Quest XI S β Seems like they put quite a lot of effort in making this. NO vote.
Disney TSUM TSUM FESTIVAL β NO vote.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas β What makes the Japanese release this late? NO vote.
Rune Factory 4 SPECIAL β I was kind of interested in the 3DS version when it first came out, and ended up giving it a pass because I didn't have enough confidence to try a new series like this. Don't know if I'll try this. Will release on 25 July 2019, just one day before Fire Emblem. MAYBE vote.
Rune Factory 5 β I always feel reassuring to hear just the very existence of a next game. MAYBE vote.
Dragon Quest Rivals β I like how they're straightforward about the Switch game not being new (as the gameis already out on PC and mobile). NO vote.
Oni no Naku Kuni β From the I am Setsuna team. This actually looks quite interesting. But no, I'm not interested in Unity games. NO vote.
Yoshi Crafted World β So it's not really a straightforward platformer. Hmmβ¦ MAYBE vote.
Download software lineup β There aren't many games mentioned here.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses β I like the background story. Also, I'm glad that bows still have a range of 2. The last trailer had me worried. And apparently, fistfighting is an available option. All looks good to me thus far, and it seems that we're back to the medieval nobles versus monsters kind of story.
Is it just me, or is the trailer actively trying to pursuade the player to pick Edelgard over the other two? She has more screen time. YES vote.
Tetris 99 β But what if there are fewer than 99 people online? Oh, it also marks the first time Nintendo releases a Tetris game in more than 12 years since Tetris DS.
Dead by Daylight β Well, that's a way to play hide and seek. I don't expect this game to do very well at all. NO vote.
Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu β The king is back! I was wondering, given last year the Switch got FamiSta and the PS4 got PawaPuro, there were some exclusivity / Konami-vs-NAMCO feud going on. Guess it's not the case. NO vote.
DELTARUNE Chapter 1 β It's free. Not interested though. NO vote.
DAEMON X MACHINA Prototype Orders β Same. NO vote.
Coming soon! Software lineup part 2 β Yep. Really feels like a TV ad.
The Legendof Zelda: Link's Awakening β I didn't expect a 2D Zelda in the form of a Link's Awakening remake. It's a rather weird entry that doesn't seem to fit with the very serious feel of the newer Zelda games, so it's a rather unexpected choice to me. I likely won't get it, since being a remake also means I already know the story, and I don't like the ending. NO vote.
1 YES, 6 MAYBEs, and a free Tetris game. This is probably the most fruitful Nintendo Direct to me, personally.

I don't treat unconfirmed info seriously. Real leaks are starting to become more common, and that is one reason for me to not heed them any attention, since they now have great potential for being spoilers.
So I just read that rumor, ignored it, and came to the Direct without expecting it. Even after seeing Super Mario Maker 2 with that "oh right, that leak" realization in mind, I still didn't recall Metroid Prime Trilogy being a rumor.
As for whether I think Metroid Prime Trilogy is going to be ported, well, I don't know. Again, I don't take rumors seriously.
Nester the Lark: Just as Super Mario Bros Wonder refreshed my appreciation for 2D Mario, I think Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is refreshing my appreciation for top-down Zelda.

nocturnal YL: F-ZERO CLIMAX and GP Legend on NSO, and F-ZERO 99 adds BS F-ZERO courses. Cool.

Nester the Lark: ^ I'm looking forward to trying out the new F-Zero 99 content!

nocturnal YL: Nintendo announced new hardware⦠just not the kind people would expect. Alarmo, the Nintendo-themed motion-sensor clock, is now available from Nintendo's official stores.
Oct 9, 2024 9:43:52 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Japan's My Nintendo Store got too many orders of Alarmo, and they're now having to pause sales of the device.

nocturnal YL: Nintendo is going to to a Nintendo Switch Online playtest. We don't know what what is, but I'm guessing another 99-style game. They need 10000 people to test, and it requires software download, so it's likely not retro games or system-level functions.

Nester the Lark: The demo for Ys X is out in Western regions now, and the save data carries over to the main game, so I guess I get to start playing it a little early.
Oct 15, 2024 9:20:06 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Just started and finished WarioWare: Move It! (it's WarioWare, so a basic playthrough takes only 2 hours.) I went from having long breaks between games to being on a new game spree, having done 3 games in just a month and a half.
Oct 16, 2024 14:00:57 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I expect to slow down again, though, since the remaining games I have are longer. Ys X, Wreckfest and WarioWare are all short games; meanwhile I still have Sakuna and a few visual novels to play before I'm buying new ones.
Oct 16, 2024 14:04:53 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I also still haven't touched Fatal Frame 5 and Atelier Marie Remake, but I'm going to group them up for an even lengthier Gust marathon in the future.
Oct 16, 2024 14:06:20 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: On the topic of WarioWare, I'm glad to finally see a new entry that doesn't have unnecessarily difficult boss games. The motion control does take a lot of getting used to, though. It's less intuitive than Smooth Moves, which remains my favourite WarioWare.

Nester the Lark: I think I'm getting near the end of the Ys X demo (I'm starting chapter 3). I'm enjoying the story, but I've been having a hard time getting a handle on the combat.
Oct 18, 2024 11:22:36 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: That's still quite early. The combat should feel better once you fill up all skill slots.

nocturnal YL: I took a look at my past Switch games and found that more than 40% of the games I played contain some kind of fishing.

nocturnal YL: A bit late, but I started Aiyoku no Eustia. I have nothing to say about the story yet because the demo lasted 6 hours and I haven't got past that. There's no save data transfer feature, fast-forwarding takes a while, and I stopped to read at some points.
Nov 3, 2024 6:47:31 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: It has the best file management feature I've seen. 60 normal save slots, 6 autosaves, and 12 more slots automatically saved at decision points. And the save data can be moved, deleted and given comments. It's the most flexible I've seen on console.
Nov 3, 2024 6:50:03 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I think I've gotten a better handle on the combat in Ys X, but I still don't think it feels quite as good as in Ys VIII and IX.
