Votes: 11 Total games: 178
-- Previous Results -- 20072008-- Comments -- - Low voter turn-out this time. - The top three looks very similar to 2007, with Brawl replacing Melee, and SMG2 replacing SM64, while Yoshi's Island sustains. - For the first time, a third-party game cracks the top 5. - The biggest climb was Zelda: The Wind Waker. The biggest drop was Zelda: Ocarina of Time. - Skies of Arcadia Legends just barely returns to the list, after being absent in 2008. - Fire Emblem was very popular this year. (We know who to thank for that. ) Thanks to everyone for voting! Hope you had fun!

Not a bad list if I may say so. I can't wait to see how it'll change in two years from now.

Wow, Xenoblade did quite well, that it did. Glad to see Skies back on the list, too.

Well, it sure is fun. Each voter's preferences is more fun to read than the overall results, especially when each voter's vote means somehting differently. In my case, my first 10 votes are really my top favs, followed by games that I like but have no real preference in, and 22~25 are given to unheard of games that I want to give a place to. The result's actually quite fun to read too, although it doesn't really mean anything. -- Favorite Series (by score) -- Title Games | Total Score -------------------------------------------- 4. Fire Emblem 9 205 5. Kirby 8 170 My... I guess I'll change my direction of picking games next time, even though it then won't be my top 25. -- The One-point Club -- Mario Party 9 Too bad. MP9's actually quite good - the best Mario Party, I'd say. - Low voter turn-out this time. Guess everyone's either busy, not interested or... not being a forum regular anymore? - Fire Emblem was very popular this year. (We know who to thank for that. ) I'd be glad to have this kind of impact if this is a vote for something serious. Of course, in a serious vote where everyone gets 25 votes, everyone would probably do what I did. And speaking of everyone having multiple votes, I wonder when will IS post the outcome of their FE13 character popularity vote,,, Other comnments: - Top 5 isn't surprising at all, except maybe the rise of RE4. - Zelda WW beating OoT is a surprise to me, especially considering that OoT 3D has refreshed the game. - I think I'll thank the low number of voters for this: despite being Japan-only (fan translation is available), Fire Emblem 12 managed to make it in. - And it has beaten Fire Emblem 10 too. FE10 is considered the best FE by quite a lot of Western players. - A list of 25 games really doesn't do justice to gaming in general. - I'm surprised to see SMB3 dropped out. I'd have included SMA4 if I am to pick 30 games instead of 25 (or vote less bizarrely). - Fire Emblem 11 is the only FE game that made it to the overall vote that I didn't nominate - it's actually the only modern FE I didn't even consider to get. Players familiar to the series should know why. ( EDIT - Oh yeah, Fire Emblem 2 as well.) - I wonder what ranks 26 to 178 are.

I voted for Fire Emblem 7 as well. Jiggly voted for FE11 and FE2, which I didn't.
I'm thinking that next time I'll set some limitations on my votes, like allowing for single-series votes only for the first few entries. Though if the next vote is in the next year, FE13 and those Kirby games will probably remain in top place.

I try not to pick too many games in a single series myself. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are both up there, but I only picked one... Otherwise my more interesting votes wouldn't stand a chance.

An early draft of my vote was very Zelda-heavy, but then I realized that there wasn't any room for a lot of other games that I also wanted to put on my list. So, in a lot of cases, it was a matter of picking one or two games to represent a series.
But as I mentioned in the voting thread, there's no way of standardizing how people choose and organize their preferences. It was vague enuff trying to differentiate between ports and remakes. If what you like is Fire Emblem and Kirby, and that's what matters to you, then there's nothing wrong with filling up your list with them.

I made a list of games I really liked and compared which games I like better, no "oh, my list has too much of X series". Xenoblade being so high just interests me even more. I'm also surprised the Wii has got so much love.
But even more so, no Skyward Sword? I thought people loved that game. Also happy Windwaker trumped over Ocarina of Time. I don't care what people say, OoT is extremely overrated ^_^
Whatever, I had fun making this list. It probably wasn't the best and most accurate list I could make, but meh.

Skyward Sword was a tuff omission for me. It came down to deciding between it and Twilight Princess, and I went with the older game. Who knows? Maybe SS will make my list next time. Ultimately, both did comparably in the final point tally anyway.
Sometimes a game does well at first, but people lose interest after a length of time. TP didn't make this year's list, despite being #10 in 2008. On the other hand, sometimes people warm up to a game more after time. Wind Waker wasn't on the 2007 list at all, and now it's the highest ranking Zelda game.
Then again, with so few voters, there's little expectation of consistency anyway, except maybe for the top five.

Aww, what's so bad about FE11? Is the only one I have played that I actually own (and still enjoying). Liked it because it is an nicer looking and improved FE3 (sans the 2 book). Besides those only tried Gaiden. Maybe I do have a bad taste for the series?

I try not to pick too many games in a single series myself. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are both up there, but I only picked one... Otherwise my more interesting votes wouldn't stand a chance. I did the same sort of thing, and actually tried to group it as almost a 'if I was stuck with only 25 games to play' situation - in reality, I'd actually prefer to play Galaxy 1 than, say, Mario 64 (and in fact many of the games on my list), but since I feel Galaxy 2 is much better and the two are so similar, I decided to just vote for that one. Different iterations of Smash, Mario Kart and Pokemon were all similar situations - I probably prefer to play any given Pokemon game over many of the lower items in my list, but if I already had a Pokemon game, I wouldn't really need another.

On one hand, I feel that picking series reps makes individual lists interesting to read, but on the other hand, we'll get the total scores of games and series - that putting in an actual top 25 in the list would somehow help you win (where winning means nothing in this context). I'd say I just took the voting too seriously in a survey whose results mean practically nothing. I do want to balance it out a bit next time, since I obviously like more than 25 games and wanted to put in usual stuff as well. See my last few votes - games like Mario Tennis GB and G&W Super Mario Bros belong to this category. Aww, what's so bad about FE11? Is the only one I have played that I actually own (and still enjoying). Liked it because it is an nicer looking and improved FE3 (sans the 2 book). Besides those only tried Gaiden. Maybe I do have a bad taste for the series? There is no problem in liking FE11, especially if you say you've only tried FE2/3/11 (you're the only FE player I know to have a profile like this). Basically, most FE players wouldn't want to kill their own units - that's the whole point in the series: to make players feel attached to the characters. FE11 asks players to do exactly the opposite. Want Horace or Athena to join? Slaughter your own armymen until there are less than 15. Want to see faceless generic allies? Kill them until you have less units than allowed in the next chapter. This kind of requirement tend to put fans off - FE players are crazy people who'd reset when missing a stat up or even when missing a hit, let alone letting someone killed in a permadeath game. (I'm a bit more extreme in this category - I reset even in Mario games where death counts are present.) That, and there's also the fact that the this game's art is less preferrable than the rest of the series. In other words, we like adorable Marth more than manly Marth.

Yeah, I tried picking one game per franchise so my list wouldn't be cluttered with Mario, Megaman and Pokemon. Couldn't help but pick 2 Mario and Poke games in the end however
I find it funny how most of us basically replaced G/S with HG/SS. Ubergen represent
The rank change is a nice touch. Interesting to see so many newcomers, but I suppose the lower turnout had a big effect on the end result aswell.
