Things have been mysteriously quiet about this game as far as North America is concerned. Itagaki promises it will still be released in North and South America, but there are rumors NoA won't be the one to publish it.
However, Valhalla and Itagaki just opened themselves up to media interviews, so maybe there's some news incoming.

Here is Itagaki's comment about the Unseen 64 video I posted above:
I never want to offend Unseen64. 'Cuz I haven't met with them in recent 25 yrs. Perhaps they have some reason to write the article. But idk (Source)
I also noticed that when someone posted the rumor about Xseed, Itagaki neither "Liked" nor commented on it, even tho he has interacted with pretty much every other post on his Facebook wall in the last couple of days.

Early impressions of the game have been pretty scathing, citing poor frame rates, unresponsive controls, and cheap difficulty. Itagaki seems to be taking it in stride, but it wasn't too cool of him to blame the poor reception on lack of player skill.

Well, that's the thing. Ninja Gaiden on Xbox had a positive reception, and its difficulty wasn't blamed on technical issues. Ninja Gaiden II was criticized a bit in that regard, but I think even Itagaki admitted the development was a little rushed.
