I think the textures and lighting look fairly improved from last year. It's not setting any records, but it's serviceable.

Official Japanese site is online, but doesn't have anything more than the trailer right now. Itagaki apparently modeled for Ivan's pose in the cover art. Also, the official release date in Europe is August 28. To be honest, I think Splatoon has made me even more interested in this game.

Things have been mysteriously quiet about this game as far as North America is concerned. Itagaki promises it will still be released in North and South America, but there are rumors NoA won't be the one to publish it. However, Valhalla and Itagaki just opened themselves up to media interviews, so maybe there's some news incoming.

Wow, harsh. And disappointing if true.

Not too worried about that myself. There has been quite a history of not-Nintendo publishing part-Nintendo games before.

Siliconera claims it's already been picked up by another publisher. I've seen some people speculate XSEED (I guess based on some comment they made). I might guess Koei Tecmo, myself. And here is Itagaki's rebuttal to the rumor: [Calm down]
Guys, Which do you believe me or such site? The world brims over with lies and rumors.
Thanks always, mates.

I think Itagaki would rather have the game never be released than to have KT publish it.

Interesting. NoA has finally acknowledged Devil's Third. Either Itagaki was right, or they'll be announcing a new publisher (although the tweet does imply NoA is publishing). EDIT: And now Emily Rogers claims it's in partnership with Xseed. ( Source)

Here is Itagaki's comment about the Unseen 64 video I posted above: I never want to offend Unseen64. 'Cuz I haven't met with them in recent 25 yrs. Perhaps they have some reason to write the article. But idk (Source) I also noticed that when someone posted the rumor about Xseed, Itagaki neither "Liked" nor commented on it, even tho he has interacted with pretty much every other post on his Facebook wall in the last couple of days.

Early impressions of the game have been pretty scathing, citing poor frame rates, unresponsive controls, and cheap difficulty. Itagaki seems to be taking it in stride, but it wasn't too cool of him to blame the poor reception on lack of player skill.

Hasn't that been his thing since the Xbox Ninja Gaiden? Granted, that was a good game, but still.

Well, that's the thing. Ninja Gaiden on Xbox had a positive reception, and its difficulty wasn't blamed on technical issues. Ninja Gaiden II was criticized a bit in that regard, but I think even Itagaki admitted the development was a little rushed.

OK, so it turns out Nintendo is publishing Devil's Third in North America in Q4. Strangely, Valhalla announced that they're also releasing a "free-to-start" version of the game for PC that's online multiplayer only, and does not include the Wii U's single-player campaign. ( Source) Man, this just gets weirder and weirder... EDIT: And here's NoA's press release. EDIT 2: And here's Itagaki's comment on Facebook. Sounds like there's more news on the way: [ Announcement ]
