Super Mario Bros. on the NES. Though I wasn't really good in any videogame until SMB3 came out. I wonder then why I suck at Super Mario Advance 4.

Awesome - right from the startof it all, huh?
That's cool - I have still never finished my first game - SMB - I mean, I've finished it in AllStars where you can save, but never made it through on the original... does that make me less of a person? ;D

I have still never finished my first game - SMB - I mean, I've finished it in AllStars where you can save, but never made it through on the original... does that make me less of a person? ;D Yes... yes it does... that is a shameful thing to admit. But I forgive you. But you should not rest until you can play it from beginning to end, without warping, on one life. I really wound up my brother doing that when we played 2-player (you alternated turns when one player lost a life, rather than when one player finishes a level - so he had to wait for me to completely complete the game before he could get a go). Gwahahaaa. But then I didn't even complete the first Legend of Zelda until the NES Classics version. Shame on me (and I refuse to comment on my failure to complete any Metroid game before Fusion).

I love the irony in how the only Metroid game I haven't beat is Super Metroid, which is some argue is the best. (Well... I beat Zero Mission, but not Metroid, which I don't plan to beat ever).
I didn't beat SMB until much later in life. Ditto on LoZ as well.

I think SMB was the first game I ever completed. Didn't even have a manual. That game shaped my entire present state of mind... the excitement of discovering you could go into the pipes, or the warp zones, or working out how to get 5000pts on the flagpole... it showed me what games could really achieve. And here I am, 14 years later, with a website dedicated to the company, a job in videogame retail, and so many games my bank manager may end up having harsh words with me. But hey! It's all worth it

Way back in 1991, the first video game I have played was 'Sonic the Hedgehog' for Sega Genesis. I spent 10 hours on it in my first day of video gaming when I locked my brothers out of their own room. After that, I got benched from video games for 2 weeks.

I was born the same year Super Mario Brothers came out ^_^ I beat it when I was three years old....that makes me proud of myself, even if I couldn't do it without warping

Gorilla. It was an MSDOS game where you had to throw a nuclear banana at your opponent by inputting two numbers: one for power, one for height. My first system Game was Rampage for the N64. There's kinda a difference between the two...

Haha, Gorilla... my girlfriend and her brother have been raving about that, and I'd never heard of it before. I was beginning to think they'd made it up Anyway, my girlfriend says something like "wheee! tell him he's cool" or something like that. Don't suppose you know of somewhere you can download it?
