Still looks more like "Eternal Star" to me.

Many sites said that it actually was "L is real 2004" or "L is real 2041".
That could mean that Luigi was going to become playable in SM64 in either of those years. And if it did mean that, then they were right, because with SM64x4 coming now for the DS...
Should we take those messages written underneath the barrels and crates in SSBM more seriously?

Yes, I've heard all the "L is Real Star" things, and I even bought it for a while, but there is no date. Go, right now, and stand in Peach's garden, and stare at it. It is not a date. It either says: Eternal Star (then some blurred writing underneath) or L is Real Star (then some blurred writing...)
It says Star... not 2004... not 2014... and I'm not even convinced it says "L is Real".
If it were true, does that mean we can expect Luigi to be playable in a 2014 edition of Ocarina of Time as well? The same texture was used on a sign in Dodongo's Cavern as well, you know.

I'm not convinced about anything, the text is INDECEPHERABLE.
It's no subliminal message. If it was, I think Nintendo would have told us by now. They didn't want people to make stupid rumors about such a stupid thing.
(Topics like these have gone on forever in TMK's Fungi Forums, and most of the regulars there like me are sick of them.)

As am I... wild stabs in the dark are not the way things are done around here. No sirree Bob! All right, without jumping to any conclusions, why did Nintendo EAD decide to play with our minds like this? (I was only kidding when I said that I actually thought the signs made a reference to Luigi). The only reason I can think of why they would have re-used the sign is that maybe it was among several images that they could choose to transfer into surfaces from their computers. But, then, why haven't we seen the sign in more games?

Maybe the sign IS hidden in more games, but no-one's found any of them yet. Fancy looking for them? I thought not I don't think they were playing with anyone's mind. Maybe it just says "Eternal Star Super Mario 64" or something, but got too blurry to read when the game textures were fuzzed. That would make sense. As for OoT... who knows? I expect someone thought it would be funny to watch people squirm. Rare used to do it all the time. Us Nintendo fans should be used to it by now.

Speaking of Rare making us squirm... was there ever any point to those big hidden question mark eggs in Banjo-Kazooie?
I heard it was something to do with Banjo-Tooie, but I still haven't managed to get my hands on a copy, so I don't have a clue...

There was supposed to be a device called the Stop 'n' Swop, where you'd get all the secret items (In total, 6 Eggs, and the Ice Key) in Banjo-Kazooie, Place on the device, take out the cartridge with the N64 still turned on, and placing in Banjo-Tooie.
That idea was scrapped fairly quickly during the devlopment of Tooie. That's why they have B-K cartridges you get the items (3 eggs were removed, leaving the Pink, Blue, and Yellow Eggs) from in Tooie.

Yeah, Nintendo was worried that swapping carts with the power on would damage the games/console/brains/universe or something. In Banjo-Kazooie there's no point to them.

Aww. Still, it was fun getting those extra items. I new right from the start that there was more to Sharkfood Island than it looked.

Bah, I decided to start my Banjo-Kazooie game over again, so I deleted the save files and started over, but all of the cheats were still in effect in my new game.
Bah!

That's what I hated about it.
You can only get the items once.
