I just read at the Mushroom Kingdom that Japan will be releasing its third Famicom Mini series on August 10. This installment will feature only Famicom Disk System games. Some of the titles include:
Super Mario Bros. 2 (AKA the Lost Levels) Zelda II: The Adventures of Link Metroid Kid Icarus Castlevania
Does anyone know when the US will finally see series 2, let alone series 3?
Also, what are some other classic games that you'd like to be able to play on your GBA?

Whoa. Several games on that list I'm actually willing to purchase...
Adventure of Link and Kid Icarus. I could die happy...
(Oh. And a fierce Gannon-Ban for the "Adventures" part.)

Yep, I've put them all up: www.planetnintendo.com/nindb/agb/jp-fmk.shtmlThey are: 1. Super Mario Bros. 2 (the Japanese version - aka. The Lost Levels) 2. Nazo no Murasamejou (we've been talking about it a lot, involves ninjas, samurai, and evil stone heads) 3. Metroid (Hopefully NoA will realise we already have this TWICE on GBA before charging £15 for a standalone version) 4. Hikari Shinwa: Palutena no Kagame (better known as Kid Icarus - delightfully hard) 5. The Legend of Zelda 2: Link no Bouken (The Adventure of Link, hardest Zelda game IMO) 6. Famicom Mukashi-Bunashi: Shin Oni Ga Shima (Text adventure starring Donbe & Hikari as they grow up - both parts are on the one cart) 7. Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Koukeisha (Text adventure where you have to solve a mystery as young Anata - both parts included) 8. Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro Ni Tatsu Shoujo (Sequel - now you can also play as Ayumi, a girl from Anata's school as they investigate a suspicious drowning of a schoolgirl) 9. Akumajou Dracula (That's the first Castlevania to me and you) 10. SD Gundam World Gachapon Senshi Scramble Wars (Some cute robot battle thing - looks very weird) Out of all those, four were released in America (Metroid, Kid Icarus, Zelda II and Castlevania), with Super Mario Bros. 2 being released on SM All*Stars / Bros. Deluxe... But for the love of God, NoA... DON'T RELEASE METROID AGAIN!

They better not release Metroid again! Man! It's been ported TWO times already!

Yeah. Porting Metroid would be like them porting SMB2(us) and SMB3, which already have much more polished versions out of GBA. Zero Mission is not a faithful remake, but the original game IS there.

It's a good idea and all, but there is no way I'm buying them... I will think about the Classic NES GBA SP however... On The Adventure of Link - I started plaing it today (Collector's Edition disc for GCN, although I do have the original NES version) and it is SO hard to play... so I gave up and started A Link to the Past, and got bored of that... What's happening to me?...

Your crossing over into the real world that gamers long try to resist. Come next year you'll be an accountant, just you watch.

That can NEVER happen to me! It'd be like an olympic sprinter losing a leg, only not nearly as newsworthy! No really! Oh okay, maybe not THAT much like it, but a bit like it... less pain I guess, but just as much emotional trauma... maybe... Shut up!

An accountant??? My Dad is an accountant, and I think he was annoyed when I began studying politics and journalism at University, because I wasn't going to be an accountant - you really scared me there with that accountant comment... Seriously though... I don't know what it is with me right now... I'm a HUGE fan of the Mario Bros. games still, and I don't think I'll even get sick of the 2D sidescrollers (like the Mario Bros. & Wario games), but I think I'm over the Zelda games... (maybe I'll sell the Zelda games and just continue collecting Mario Bros. games...)

Kid Icarus is the only game that has not been ported. But i'm voting for the Samurai ( ) for a new SSB game i wish. But Honestly this is the third time that Metroid ported since with Metroid Prime and Zero Mission Adventure of Link was the second time for LOZ: Collector's Edition. Maybe it might be possible to play the NES History with GBA or with Game Cube.

Did anyone notice that Nintendo has started porting their classic games a little too much these days? maybe they're trying to stop emulators or something.

Well... first of all they're old enough to have many games to port. All older game companies are guilty of reviving the original games in some form or another. Secondly, they're celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Japanese Famicom - hence all the NES Classic games being released. Finally, they also want to attract people who used to play games back in the NES days, but who have since gone off gaming. They are then hoping these people will stick around for the new and original delights on offer. However, they realise emulation is a problem because people REALLY WANT to play their old games. So it's just good business sense to release some of them again for fans both old and new. And it's working. I saw this quite old guy in my local Game store recently looking at the boxes for the Classic NES series, and audibly chuckling in a nostalgic way... and then he bought an SP and a couple of the games, much to his young daughter's delight

But some people don't care if emulation is ilegal, I once stumbled on(and bought) a pirated Playstation 2 game which contains many old Mario games.

One thing I hate about Adventure of Link, that Ganon's laughter gives me nightmares including his mug.
