I know, I saw all the new release dates. Geist has been added to the US GC game list's Future Releases section since yesterday.
Geist is a first-person shooter by a company called n-Space. The whole catch is you play a ghost (Geist is German for ghost, see?) and you have the ability to possess things. So I suppose instead of killing a soldier and picking up his ammo, you scare the soldier, allowing you to possess him, and get his entire armoury at once! You can also possess things like cameras, computers, fire extinguishers, dogs, and so on, allowing you to solve all sorts of puzzles.
And, of course, Nintendo are publishing it!
It's behind schedule, originally due for release a good couple of years ago. Since then the graphics have improved, the gameplay seems to have evolved and so on. Let's hope the finished product proves worth the wait - though it will have a bit of a job to beat Metroid Prime / 2.

Sounds pretty cool, especially possessing things, that's also one the things I liked about Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus

I've been looking forward to this game for a while... I don't usually like these kind of games, but the idea of possessing stuff sounds awesome! ;D

I wonder if Geist will be Nintendo's first true "killer app", giving it more chance against PS2 or XBOX. I noticed recently, that Nintendo is licensing it's characters to death..

I think it sounds like the first new GC franchise for Nintendo since Eternal Darkness... and for that I hope it does well. I expect I will enjoy it on my own, though - My girlfriend is not particularly fond of first-person shooters, and my friends live quite a distance away.
But maybe I'll invite some of my old Game buddies over. Hmm...

Well, yes, but Atlus snatched it up for the US release, so it doesn't really count. Nintendo obviously had little interest in releasing it outside of Japan (and it never came out in Europe).
