next zelda rated "m"?

i was on planet gamecube and looke up the upcoming zelda and it said: "rating:mature".

what do you think?

Well, it'd be Nintendo's first first party game to be rated M. It's gonna be a great game and I'll get it no matter what ESRB rating.

It hasn't been given a rating, so they're talking rubbish. It hasn't even been given a name

There's a sliver of a chance it may end up with a T rating, but I expect Nintendo will do the honourable thing and stick with what they do best... good ol' E ratings.

I have to say, I've just checked out the new video clip, and MY GOD it looks good. The water effects are beautiful, and the forest!!! The trees aren't just textured walls! The horseback/pigback riding looks great, the little touches that remind you of Wind Waker (some of the combat moves, the smoke when something dies), the other touches that remind you of Ocarina of Time (horseback arrow shooting, creepy invisible enemies that make me think of the Lens of truth), the giant spider!!!

I mean...its just...I just....words cannot describe...brain overload...mwaa...me wantee!

...and the goron! Beautiful character models, but why is he fighting you? A training lesson, or is he a Goron traitor?

According to an interview Planet GameCube did with the NOA localisation team, it seems the next Zelda will be rated "T".

PGC: I don't want to get too far into territory you can't talk about, but do you think with the new Zelda with the new style and vastly better graphics on the GameCube, do you think there's going to be an issue of E or T?

Bihldorff: I don't think there's any question it'll get a T personally. We'll probably have to look at it and have a long discussion with the ESRB. But that is one of their bigger issues, that you can get away with, well, Wind Waker has beautiful graphics but it looks a lot like a cartoon, but the more realistic you get, the more you're going to get [in terms of ratings]. From what we've seen, I don't think there's any question that...

Bihldorff: I mean, recently we just recently met with the ESRB and talked about Ocarina of Time, and that had some dicey moments, whether or not it was going to get an E, you know, the original one where Ganondorf pukes out all that blood at the end, and then you end up ramming your sword down the pig's throat, you know, when he transforms, and it's not exactly non-violent, and if you imagine a scene like that with vastly improved realistic graphics, I think that'd probably be in the T range.

I don't think an outsider will ever be able to see that video and not think it is a Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones rip-off...

I never read ratings. Even it it's rated Mature (ESRB) or 15+ (CERO), I'll still buy it if I like to.


Especially for ESRB ratings, that is just total nonsence. A Teen rated game is usually suitable for little children, like SSBM.

I am going to get it anyway. But I don't think it is Nintendo's first game to get M rating. What about Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem?

They've published T and M games, but most of the time they internally develop E games (SSBM was a bizarre exception that has since been reclassified... and even that was mostly developed by HAL Labs).

But over here in Europe we get the PEGI age ratings, which make a lot more sense. None of this "E/T/M" nonsense (I know adults I wouldn't trust with certain M titles)... but straightforward age ratings of 3/7/12/15/18.

I don't see the new Zelda getting even a 15 rating, to be totally honest. 12 maybe (even TWW got a 7 for some reason when it first came out).

Wind Waker just got a 7+ rating because it had violence. It was cartoonish violence but still pretty heavy violence. >.>

For the Wind Waker, I don't know for CERO because it was the last unrated GC game in Japan. I didn't know that it got a PEGI 7+ either.

I think if CERO rated Wind Waker, it would be "All ages".



Actually I'm not suprised if a Zelda game is rated M. If that happened to Mario, Kirby or DK - that sort of series, I WOULD be suprised even if any of them got a T.

I don't know why SSBM is rated T though, I think it is suitable for all ages
