Making Link in village clothes may seem like a bad idea, but who knows? Maybe he'll look great in village clothes the same way he was in pajamas (Windwaker). Personally, I preferred the cel-shaded Link in p.j.s rather than in hero clothes.

I don't see why people reacted badly towards the village clothes to begin with.
So what if he starts in other clothes? Isn't he allowed to wear other clothes? When Mario eats a fire flower and chanegs colours, is he any less Mario? When Samus goes fusion on us and turns purple, is she any less Samus? The answer is maybe... I mean, no! ;D
I think it's cooler to start Link out as a nobody and build him up. And the village clothes are apparently based on real village clothes of a time in history that would correspond losely with the time period of the game. That makes the game more genuine I think.

On the subject of fanboy complaints, somebody on another forum pointed out that the longer sleeve on Link's left arm could be something that is worn under a shield - which would make Link hold the shield in his left hand - which would make Link hold the sword in his right hand - which is apparently wrong since he is usually left handed.
If thats true, then its an interesting piece of info for us, and an "OMFG!11! I am sooo not buying this!!11!11!" for the Zelda Fanboys.
And the Wind Waker clothes pyjamas, were they? Weren't they just casual clothes, as he only has to wear the Tunic on his birthday?

I didn't think they were pyjamas... thought it was one hella cool blue lobster shirt However, if Link does start off right handed for the first time then I imagine fanboys ACTUALLY WILL go into a mass uproar. That's even more unconventional than cel-shading

Darn fan-boys. If you ask me, they are Nintendo's greatest enemy. All they do is get all hung up on certain aspects of Nintendo, and get angry when the company decides to change something - to develop like any company that wanted to survive would.
They stand in the way of game series evolving (I liked the cel-shaded look - it worked for the game), they don't give any credit to the competition (the PS2 is a good console, the PSP is a good handheld system), and they are geebrally narrow-minded.
I draw the line between fans and fan-boys when the person becomes almost militaristic in their obsession with little details like the colour of Link's left eye or something.
Back on topic. How good is this new Zelda game looking? ;D

Back off topic again... I have been toying with a character for a possible "regular" comic strip (as regular as anything I've done before, anyway, ie. not very) called Kid E.: Nintendo Fanboy. The whole premise is that he's the infuriating kind of fanboy, who screams and shouts when something doesn't go their way... who obsessed over Rare and Silicon Knights games until they split, now decrying their past output as poor... who stressed over the DS... those who believe they own Nintendo, and cry whenever it's proven that they don't. All that, and he's a rabid kid who we will all love to hate. What d'you think? Back on topic... It's looking excellent.

Off topic: Not a bad idea - I assume the artwork that resides in certain parts of the site are your own drawings? They are very good - a comic strip might very well be the next logical step. And, the whole fanboy idea could work out to be quite funny. Has my vote - you'll have to draw some mock-up designs for the character, so we can see what Kid E. will look like.
On topic: Zelda '05
Off topic: Perhaps even come up with different initial designs for him and let the forum members vote on their favourite? And then you can just say, "Nah, I'm picking the one I want, because I'm drawing the comic damn it!" ;D It'd be cool!
On topic: Wouldn't it be nice of Nintendo to make Zelda '05 explain the story a bit better - maybe link in to some other games, so instead of having what we have now ("The Legend(s) of Zelda"), we'd finally have "The Legend [singular] of Zelda". It would keep the tides of Zelda fans from going to war over time-line interpretations. (Unless that's all part of Nintendo's plan... ;D)

The drawings on the site are indeed my own work (if, by that, you mean the Nintendo Stars and very occasionally a splash image).
But I have his design pretty much finalised. I will scan one of them for perusal later on. I also had an idea regarding ever-changing t-shirt designs ;D
Oops, back on topic, quickly! Erm, err, yeah! I don't think Nintendo will ever get around to tying up these loose ends. We now know that the new one won't necessarily take place after Wind Waker on the timeline. Looks like we're stuck with warring factions of Zelda lovers. Let's be honest, as well, this new Zelda might be just what we need to revive the flagging Zelda community, disenfranchised by the cel-shading in Wind Waker (fools, I know). Still... realistic Tingle would make up for the lack of this Link being Wind Waker Link all growed up.

Regarding Kid E. - sounds cool, and hope to see character designs in the near future. Regarding Tingle... And no for some new Zelda '05 news! Yes, zeldauniverse.net has some brand new scans from EGM - we have new official art (Zelda and an odd cloaked man), we have Link fighint a boss battle on horseback, and we have fishing in a rowboat! Check the new pics out people! www.zeldauniverse.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=321&page=1

Regarding Kid E, if you hadn't already designed him I would have suggested a sort of 9-Volt style look, but not 9-Volt (obviously). I'm sure whatever you designed is fine, though.
And Cel-Shading is great. Real great. More series should Cel-Shade. Kirby comes to mind, as would a new console Earthbound, as games that would work great cel-shaded. Even Mario would be cool. Only problem is the water, as the plain blue water restricts underwater swimming and stuff. If they replace that then Cel-Shading has no real flaws.
Regarding Zelda (picture by picture analysis):
Zelda looks hot. And deadly. Not a bad combination at all.
Fishing on a boat will be real cool. I wonder how much of this game will feature water? Interviews have said the game will have an "underwater world", and now there is this as well. Possibly as much as Wind Waker? Maybe, since it looks like we will be interacting more with the water than in WW.
Cover looks nice. Uh, yeah, I don't know what to say. The guy behind link looks mysterious. That'll do.
Is Link holding a baseball bat here? Is this a tie-in to the new Zelda sports series Nintendo has planned? Wait, I've got it! The whole game revolves around sports! Its TLOZ: The Ocarina of Baseball! Link starts in the Taoru team, but is recruited to the Hyrule team (at this point he changes uniform). Yep, Nintendo, I worked out your secret. I am a genius. Oh, and the scarecrow looks funky, too.
Thats a weird looking mayor. He looks like the Hyrule carpenter.
Cucco Gliding! Another sport. See what I mean?
Weird looking Cows. Their horns are rings. Odd. Though that demo/tutorial does look fun.
Take that Scarecrow! Don't insult my baseball bat that no longer looks that much like a baseball bat!
Wow. Check out the scale. Link looks tiny. A Minish Cap tie-in? I don't think so.... unless its the Minish Baseball Cap! Of course!
Wow. Even more Wow than the last one. That looks great. Hopefully the old Grand Theft Animal idea exists, because I would love to steal and ride that hog-thing. Or maybe they are playing polo. See, sports? Geez, I'm right again.
Link looks cool. And deadly aswell. Everybody in this game looks deadly.
I saw that pic in the 2nd shot. Still looks amazing, though. If there are any fisihng nerds reading this - is that a real fish?
See above. The shot is very nice, though. Nice sillouetting (sp?).
This boss battle looks amazing. And what do you know? Its a sport. I truely am onto something. Riding is the same as OoT apparently, which is alright, I guess. Was expecting something a bit different, but what are you gonna do? It still works fine.
The boss battle continues to look truely, truely awesome. Amazing even. And that articly mentions GTAnimal, which is fantastic. Will we be able to steal something like that big armored hog? I certainly hope so.
The three bits of info all look interesting. So it wasn't a baseball bat. Still...
The last two pictures are repeats. Opinions are somewhere.
Overall - holy flurking schnit!! Wow! Wow! Wow!

I didn't want to mimic 9-Volt... I almost went for anti-9-volt. 9-Volt is the cute collector face of fanboyism, while I want this guy to be the nasty, destructive face of it. I didn't get a chance to scan one in last night... though I am in a bigtime drawing mood, so expect to see extra pics and all that soon... I even have plans for individual game databases with sprites and my artwork as well. Just wish my tablet was working

You may have missed Fryguy's new thread. I recommmend reading it - he brings wonderful, I mean, er... terrible (yes, that'll do), terrible news... ;D
On other Zelda related stuffs - notice with the new scans on zeldauniverse.net, that I referred you all to before - the mysterious cloaked figure... He/she/it has a symbol on his/her/its cloak. Whilst at first I thought it was the symbol that Aghanim wears in LttP, it is in fact the same symbol that Sheik (a.k.a. Princess Zelda) has on his (her) front. Hmmm...

So... a Shiekah, perhaps? Or just a mysterious Hylian? Or Vaati!?
Still... this game seems that it will be no less maddeningly debated as Ocarina. I say to that: Hoorah!
