N-Europe has reported several details (relayed from rehorror.net) on the Wii's own Resident Evil game. It sounds like it'll span all the main RE games (except Code: Veronica ...??). The gameplay is modeled after RE4, including cutscenes with QTE's. It'll also have an "arcade mode" modeled after The Mercenaries minigame from RE4. A trailer will be shown at TGS. I can't wait! Will it make up for no RE5? Or maybe it's not too late for RE5 to be ported over sometime later? At least the Wii is getting some RE action. Source: n-europe.com/news.php?nid=9568

Sounds like it's getting some serious R-E action. Maybe not the next sequel in the series, but this certainly sounds like a worthy spinoff.

What is a QTE?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this as RE4 was brilliant.

Quick trigger events? I assume its talking about the parts where you had to rapidly tap A or push L & R at the right time or whatever.
As long as its got the same great controls, atmosphere, and, most importantly, fun gameplay of RE4 I'm sold already.

QTE stands for Quick Timer Event. It was a term coined for the similar "Dragon's Lair" type gameplay in the game Shenmue. At the time, it was criticized, but as you can see, it's been copied (and quite successfully) in recent games like RE4 and God of War.
It's cool that they're still using the term QTE. Shenmue deserves credit for something.

This is absolutely fantastic news. I was leery that this may have been a Gun Survivor offshoot, but this is certainly awesome. RE4's gameplay coupled with the Wii-mote ought to be incredibly entertaining, and I'm excited about the premise of the storyline. *adds to Wii wishlist*

Well, TGS is over, and Capcom never showed a trailer for or made a press release about RE for the Wii (or RE5 on 360/PS3 for that matter). All we have is that couple of seconds of footage from Nintendo's montage which leaves me wondering if "Umbrella Chronicles" was just a rumor. rehorror.net, that first reported it, was (and still is) pretty confident in its source. Apparently, the source is an employee of Capcom Europe who, himself, is puzzled at the game's absence. I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed.

Forgive my ignorance, but how could we not be sure of its existence if it appear in an official Nintendo trailer?
Or are you saying we know theres an RE Wii, just not whether its Umbrella Chronicles or not?

Yeah, basically there has been no official confirmation on any of the pre-TGS info (including the title). The footage from the Nintendo trailer, in fact, insinuated a first-person perspective (altho, there really is too little of it for me to draw any conclusions).
So, we know there's a RE for the Wii, and we know that it at least contains the Spencer mansion (from the REmake), but there's kind of a big question mark hanging over the rest of it.
EDIT: I just noticed that the Nintendo montage does, in fact, refer to RE on the Wii as "Umbrella Chronicles", noting that it's a tentative title, lending credibility to the pre-TGS info. It's still too bad it was a no-show, tho.

Here's the latest: rehorror.net reports that the trailer for RE: Umbrella Chronicles could debut around November 11th or 12th. However, this comes from the same source that said it would be at TGS. The source in question is "Clayonite", a moderator at the forums of Capcom Europe who, according to rehorror.net, is also an actual employee of Capcom Europe. When asked how soon a trailer might be shown, he responded, "Hard to say, mate. It might be shown earlier, but most likely the 11th or 12th of November." However, he followed that up with a post saying, "But don't take my word for it, ok?. It hasn't been made official or anything." Link: forum.capcom-europe.com/viewtopic.php?p=193231#193231

I wouldn't bet on it, but still possible.
