I was looking at the list of famicom games and much to my surprise Gumshoe was missing. I couldn't find any Japanese rom for it either which probably means that the list is correct. So anyone knows why it was never released in Japan?
Thanks

As far as I have found, it indeed was never released in Japan. I have no idea why (it doesn't seem to have ever been advertised either). Perhaps Japan is sensitive to the shooting of a guy to make him jump. Who knows?

They probably aren't... but they didn't get the game for some reason.

I thought I once saw screen shots of a Japanese version, but I guess I was just imagining things. I must've gotten the idea from reading in Game Over that NOA wanted certain things censored in the US version. Actually, that's kind of ironic.

In fact that's kind of unlikely. That's from Game Over if I remember correctly. And if I remember correctly it was very informative and accurate on a lot of the business details, but very flimsy when it came to actual game content.
For a start, there's not really anywhere in Gumshoe FOR there to be generic Indians... you're attacked by bottles and sharks. You're a detective... not a Wild West cowboy...
And that's just one game content mistake. I have a whole ream of them noted.
