Not sure where else I could post this, but for a while I've been trying to figure out the origin of the name "Takamaru." Fry's already got it on the site that "Nazo no Murasamejo" basically means "Riddle of Murasame Castle," but I discovered that Takamaru is actually a few different things.
Firstly, it's a common clan name in Japan. Secondly, "taka" means "hawk" or "falcon," meaning Takamaru is yet ANOTHER "Falcon" in the Nintendo pantheon ;p Thirldy, "maru" is a common ending for boys' names--not really that important, but eh Fourthly, "maru" can also mean "circle," "perfection," or "purity." And, finally, "Takamaru" as a whole is analgous to "growing" or "promoted."
Just some interesting tidbits to know, right? "Takamaru" literally implies the character is advancing in his ranks, a student of bushido. But his name also breaks down to suggest that he is swift like a hawk, but still pure of heart and soul.
Cool, neh?

Now that is some good researching! And he is indeed a samurai-in-training, which is ever cooler! I did a cool pic of him yesterday. I'll get it scanned.
