Right, I probably own at least 5 copies of Super Mario Bros. in various forms, 5 of the original Legend of Zelda, 3 Donkey Kong Country, 2 A Link to the Past - etc. etc. etc.
So my Wii Virtual Console purchases have so far all been games that I've heard about but never played before, and all have been third party.
Can anyone recommend their favourite non-Nintendo-published games available on the VC, or point out any that are soon to be released? I'm in an experimental mood.
So far I have: Bomberman '93, Bonk's Adventure, Gunstar Heroes. I'm tempted to get Solomon's Key.

Of the ones I've played (and are currently available in Europe), I can recommend Super Castlevania IV and Super Probotector. Street Fighter II is awesome, of course, tho it might be better to wait for the Turbo version. Ecco the Dolphin would be a good choice if you're in the mood for a more unique puzzle/exploration game.
I haven't played the TG version of R-Type, but R-Type in general is always good. (For those of you in the US, definitely check out R-Type III: The Third Lightning. The level 4 boss is easily one of the hardest [if not the hardest] I've ever encountered.)
Personally, I'm interested in checking out Alien Crush, altho I'm more interested in Devil's Crush. Also, Dungeon Explorer, which I've heard described as Gauntlet with a plot and an actual ending (or two).

Give Comix Zone and Streets of Rage a shot when they hit Europe. They're both beat-em-up platformers but Comix Zone is an incredibly unique representation of the genre with great style and Streets of Rage is a "typical" beat em up done superbly. You'll probably get Comix Zone in Europe a lot sooner than Streets of Rage.

I've actually had a go on Comix Zone - I'd completely forgotten about it until my recent foray into VG Heroes. It was pretty awesome. When I saw it on the future VC release list I pencilled it in!
