It’s not just Snake’s special moves that use ordnance—so do his Smash attacks. Can that be?
He’s shooting something up in the air!
He’s planting something!
<Side Special Move: Remote Missile>
This is called a Nikita. It’s a remote-controlled missile.
Missile fired!
You can control the missile yourself! But since Snake is so focused on controlling the missile, he’s completely defenseless while he does so.
If things get dangerous, press the shield button to stop controlling the missile.
<Standard Special Move: Hand Grenade>
Try walking around with the pin out.
Press your special-move button to pull out the pin. The grenade will explode after a few seconds, so be aware of the time and press the special-move button again to toss the grenade.
Strong throw!Mid throw!Soft throw!
There are three ways to throw the grenade. Tilt the Control Stick forward, not at all, or backward.
In some cases, grenades you drop may get returned to sender.
And his recovery special move is...
<Up Special Move: Cypher>
Oh! Watch out! In times like this...
Shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh!
Use his flying reconnaissance camera, the Cypher, to recover. Snake can’t fly, but he’ll do what he must.
He’ll use anything in the battlefield. That’s the crux of survival.

seeing as Snake's supposed to be a secret character, I feel that it's strange that his attacks have been revealed. Does this then mean he's a starting fighter?
He never said he'd be secret. Perhaps he is still secret. But then considering he was one of the first newcomers to be revealed, it's about bloody time!! ;D
Someone called the Cypher. Who called the Cypher yesterday?
^ Did'nt Sakurai say it after they showed Snake at E3 06?
Now back to the topic.
It's quite nice to see that they have showed 3/4 of his special moves instead of the usual 2/4 like in past updates.
The grenade standard special move is quite interesting. I like how you have press the button to take it out, press it again to pull out the pin and then press the button (and maybe use the Control Stick) to throw it. It's nice to see that you can still make original (and simple)special moves for fighters.
Also it looks like you be battling on that little island near the cannon that shot you to Pinna Park on the Defino Island stage.
Well Geng said Snake was holding the Cypher in that image from the Konami TGS conference and said it could possibly be his recovery move. Does that count?
Also it looks like on the Defino Plaza stage you might fight on that second small island (the one with Warp Pipe that you needed to get the Yoshi to) located sort of in front of the beach and fruit market.

The Nikita! I love that thing. This time, there's no machine gun turrets to shoot it down before it reaches it's destination. I wonder if they'll keep the mechanic of the missile slowing down when ever you move it.
Special moves are very nice, and it's probobly stuff like thi sthat will make me want to play him. Controllble missle wins!
EDIT:Fry:He said on the original site that all 3rd party characters would be locked. You can find the translation on Smashboards. It was done by SamuraiPanda.

Was going to make a "change" American Kirby, but I'm not that skilled at Fireworks.
TV Eye - The grenade is his standard B move...I wish he'd not knock them so out of order sometimes. O_X I wonder what his Down + B is...the box seems likely, but what could it do (outside of producing awesome screen grabs?)...perhaps shock nearby players (a la Mario)?

I thought the box was his shield? Wasn't that confirmed after the first trailer?
Evie ❤✿: Anyone got Paper Mario TTYD Remake on Switch? ^^ Is it fun? I know it's mainly just the same game.

nocturnal YL: I'm unlikely to get PM TTYD on Switch. I have the GameCube version; it's fun, but a bit tedious at times (backtracking, Pit of 100 Trials). Also, unlike PM64, 100% completion is a non-starter for me.
Apr 27, 2024 5:20:11 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: I see. Yes. I have the GameCube version as well and was thinking of just replaying that - I don't need the Switch version even though portability can be convenient (though the Switch battery life is not so good).
Apr 27, 2024 6:26:49 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: Yeah parts of the game are fun but backtracking can be a nuisance and the Pit of 100 Trials can be challenging or long. I felt similar when replaying Pokémon Colosseum for Mt. Battle for Ho-Oh.
Apr 27, 2024 6:27:46 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: Yeah, similarly certain games I like to 100% other games not as well. I never bothered with 100% completing TTYD.
Apr 27, 2024 6:28:45 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: Some point out the frame rate is 30 fps rather than the GameCube's 60 fps; so that's not everyone's cup of tea.
Apr 27, 2024 6:29:33 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: On the other hand it's nice though if you don't have the game or using your GameCube is inconvenient. I think Nintendo has a lot of older fans like us, but for some people this is a completely new experience.

Evie ❤✿: I found it interesting how they released Super Mario RPG again. I enjoyed it, even though some may say it is a little dated.
Apr 27, 2024 6:31:32 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: Though it's also a bit like.. the presentation of games is changing with the times - sometimes a faithful remake may seem a little out of place (for some).
Apr 27, 2024 6:32:46 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: You still been playing your familiar series like Atelier recently? ^^ Or what new games you played recently? I made a start on Freedom Planet 2 (the sequel to a Sonic-like influenced by China) which only recently came out for Switch.
Apr 27, 2024 6:38:06 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: However, I also started a new file on Super Mario Sunshine and have been enjoying just replaying that.
Apr 27, 2024 6:38:42 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: I think Nester might also be a fan because I think he mentioned Freedom Planet 1 somewhere, and it also popped up on my Switch he was playing Freedom Planet 2.
Apr 27, 2024 6:39:46 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: So far I prefer the original game.
Apr 27, 2024 6:40:05 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Yeah, I've been playing Freedom Planet 2. I like it, but there are some issues. I'll do a post on it eventually. I've finished it with Lilac and Carol so far, and I'm working on a playthrough with Milla. I'll do Neera after that.
Apr 27, 2024 7:59:19 GMT -5
Evie ❤✿: Nice. Glad you like it. ^^ Cool, will check it out whenever you do. :] I haven't had the chance to get any momentum on it yet. Also some people may like the 'intermission'-like areas you can explore (similar to Shantae) but 4 me I like just raw levels.
Apr 27, 2024 14:36:27 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: ^ I agree. I don't think the hub areas are that interesting. There's a Classic Mode that just gives you the levels, but you have to unlock it by beating the game once.
Apr 27, 2024 17:07:02 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Interesting find on the Magikarp. I think Pokémon merchandise didn't put emphasis on shinies until recently, so that's rather unexpected.
Apr 27, 2024 23:40:14 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I'm currently playing Atelier Escha & Logy DX, in the final quarter of the game. I tend to focus on one game at any given time, so yeah, I haven't been playing anything else. That long backlog of mine will have to wait even longer.

Nester the Lark: It is kind of funny that I'm on my third playthrough of the newest Fire Emblem game, and YL hasn't even touched it yet.
