"This is not our normal area of news but I find it important to note. I am not bashing or anything just giving information but in Japan Xbox 360 sales seem to be so bad that retailers are dropping prices to get rid of their supplies. The retailer in the picture has slashed their supplies of Xbox 360 from 38800 Yen to 18800 which equals a price drop from $350 to $150. An image speaks a thousand words:" photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6379/1162/400/X360japan.jpgLook at the image, see ACWW next to the X-Boxes

Yeah, the link doesn't work for me either.
Still, not a massive surprise. The X-Box was outsold by the PS1 and the Game Boy Color for most of its lifespan. It's not really a surprise - considering the fact most of the complaints against it haven't been tackled by Microsoft at all (despite their claims to the contrary) - that the 360 has followed suit.
But still, the mass mania in the west probably means Microsoft isn't really suffering all that badly sales wise.

You've gotta feel bad for the people in the Western countries that couldn't get one since they've essentially wasted a whole bunch of them on Japan. Maybe they should have swapped the Australian and Japanese launches, since Oz has a fairly high rate of sales for Xbox, and maybe by then there would have been a game the Japanese would have liked.

Odd, The link works for me? Anyway I know the X-Box 360 would bomb in Japan, but I didn't think this bad.

I can see it now... importers scooping them up at cheap prices, modding them, and releasing them at high premiums in the US and Europe where the consoles are all but gone.
Cheeky beggars.

Nice The best part is Sony's system will suck too 1)expencive 2)No main Online service(like Xbox live) 3)Developers arn't happy with it because they havn't put a price on it yet, and have yet given out Development kits(or may have recently) 4)Why will people buy Blu-ray when DVD still sell like hot cakes. Plus and new format called EVDs will compete so thus splitting u[p the market(half-Blu-ray, half-EVDs) 5)Both Nintendo and Microsoft are making up for there mistakes(maybe MS not so much) and Sony is being cocky aging. They arn't trying to beat the compotion. 6)(This is my Favorie)Sony has filed a patent. On ithe PS3 when a game is put in to it,IT WILL ONLY WORK ON THAT PS3. So you cant trade in used games, you can't rent games, and you cant even bring a game to a friends house unless you bring your PS3. I think the 360 has a chance, but the PS3 may go the way of the Dreamcast.

That last one definitely sounds interesting. Sony hates rentals even more than Nintendo, but that would seriously upset both retailers and consumers.

Personally I like to think that the reason the X-box 360 bombed is because no one in Japan likes Bill Gates or Microsoft.
Anyway what's the 360 bit mean anyway? Does the console turn in a circle while you play it or something??

How many "bits" is the 360 anyway? 256? 512? Or did they drop the "bittage" thing altogether? 'cause it went 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 so far...even though it doesn't mean much.(The PC Engine/TurboGrafx actually had an 8-bit processor in it, but man, look at Dracula X!)

If I'm not mistaken the PS2 is the only 128 bit console (GCN and XB are 64 or possibly 32 I think), so 'bits' are no longer used to measure a consoles power (if they ever were).

Yeah, I think after the N64 it became a case of "It's not how powerful your processor is, but what you do with it that counts".
