As the title says, I've made this thread for the recently released AM2R fan project, which set out to give Metroid II: Return of Samus the much needed revamp it deserved after so many years after its release on the original Gameboy from 1991.
More, including the game itself (it doesn't require any emulator to work, just run the exe file and you're playing), can be found on the game's site.
I just recently finished the game, and considering that I never finished the original Metroid II, this game was definitely fun. Got a 93% completion rate on my first run through the game... I wonder where those other 7 items were hidden.
The game definitely feels great in terms of exploration and controls. There's even a function (not sure if it's new, but I don't recall it) that let's Samus climb up higher elevations (with a limit of 2 blocks) without having to resort to jumping by holding the directional pad towards the elevation in question and the jump button. Really streamlines the whole movement aspect, as having to jump for every one or two block high step was always tedious.
