They repaired their relations - but this is another example of Sony's sheet arrogance towards their marketplace.
It is true that the principles of the media and the principles of company PR are often diametrically opposed, but one can't exist without the other.
Sony is trying to use its sheer weight to force others to tow the company line, but the media has assembled and fought straight back. It's a good thing - I don't always agree with the principles of the media, but I do get a tingle of satisfaction when a company tries to abuse its power and has it handed back to them tenfold.
Of course, this seems to happen to Sony a lot more than most companies. A couple of newspapers and magazines over here (UK) seem to be closely following Sony's deteriorating relationship with the public. Interesting.

What is this topic about?
I've got a feeling its supposed to be along the lines of 'OMG SONY STEAL EVERYTHING AND TRY TO COVER IT UP'.

No, basically Kotaku posted a news report about Sony's future online plans from an unofficial source, and because Sony had decided it didn't want to launch the information at that time, decided they would cut off the supply of official news releases to Kotaku altogether. In short, Sony was being a dick. The media got behind Kotaku's decision and launched yet another assault against Sony's disastrous PR machine, and Sony eventually backed down. But it's about Sony being a dick again - not about them building an online Wii-like player community. Although that's annoying too

Although that's annoying too I'd believe that if you or certain other members of the forums had posted this thread. But with the love of bashing Sony here, I'm fairly sure it is, at least in a significant part, intended to be a "SONY STEALS FROM OTHER COMPANIES" post. Either way though, its a bad move Sony tried to pull to Kotaku, but the feature does sound rather interesting.

If Sony didn't want to be bashed, they shouldn't make it so damn easy. And they should sell products at an affordable price and with a higher reliability than they are currently known for ;D
I'm sure Smashchu was pointing to Sony's latest stunt, with the intent to fan the flames of discontent. And he was successful.
The Mii/Achievements combo DOES sound interesting, if they can pull it off. I'm still laughing over the latest Penny-Arcade though ;D

Wow. That whole article is kind of a trip, from start to finish--a very interesting circumstanse.
I don't really have much to say that Fry hasn't said already, unfortunately. I could spend more time filling this post with empty hoo-haw, but I don't really feel like it.
UP UP AND AWAY~

is it me or do Sony seem to be shooting themselves in the foot a lot recently? No, Sony just won't shut up. It's sad when X-play is telling you to shut up. Sad, when the kings of lame, useless jokes are telling you to STFU.

Have we been all forgetting it also killed off Lik-Sang? Yes. Mostly because of all of the BS has began to pile sky high.
