Holy crap. When did Philosophy get into this? If your idea of being entertained is moving pieces of wood or metal or plastic on a wooden or plastic board, and thinking they are great because they've lead to boring turn-based strategies and real-time strategies, then you're an idiot. I don't play games to be reminded of such evil, stupid activities like that. Also, it's quite bizarre to try to back your opinions as fact by quoting a dead author that no one cares about anymore. Seriously, controlling the past is controlling the present? What does that have to do with the fact no one but you wants to play board games? Why do you think bringing up stupid, dead authors will validate your opinion as fact? I think the weirdest thing you said though was that people who play Halo act and think like Snoop Dogg. So people who play Halo all produce and write Rap music, get arrested for having concealed weapons outside of Jay Leno's Stage, think only about money, contribute to children's novels, and decide to spell words like Dog with two g's? You have some strange views...But Pong is the crappiest game anyone could think of. It makes me wish for death anytime I happen to somehow be forced into playing it.
Seriously, you're a grade A moron.
I apoligize if some of my veiws wern't exactly clear. When I refferd to HALO I was useing it as a medium fo Overhyped games. And when I said "think like Snoop Dogg" I was limiting it to the context of my post.
I know my post was a little odd for a video gameing bord, but thats a bit of my background.
I still have fun with pong, in fact Pong > Mario Power Tennis.
Bringing up Georg Orwell was not ment to validate my ideas but more to give it a bit of a kick. After all a fanboy ranting juist looks like a fanboy ranting, but a Fanboy ranting with quotes from a great noval may look like it has a bit more substance (or apprently he could look like "A grade A moron") And George Orwell isn't a stupid dasd author he's a frekin' awesome dead author.
Also, I never said all board games are great; a lot of board games suck, in fact, I completly admit it; so do a lot of video games though. So if your idea of entertainmet is moveing a bunch of triangles around in a world full of floting point numbers, then fine by me. Just don't kill board games there still something great.
and one last thing Thedamnarchive, If I don't defend what I beleve in with whatever i've got to defend it with then I would be a coward.
