Cool list, I find it odd though they didn't mention that Pilotwings came out on the 64 as well as the SNES...

Interesting list. I thought I'd post my two-cents here.
Pilotwings: Pilotwings seems like something that would work really well for the Wii. Maybe Nintendo is waiting to see how NiGHTS will sell.
Super Mario RPG: I don't really see this happening. Why should Nintendo bother with Square-Enix when Intelligent Systems and Alpha Dream are doing a good job?
Wrecking Crew: I don't really see what Nintendo could do. The formula's the same and the original game is available for the Wii. Seems that a update with different graphics and interface would be a bit of a waste.
Adventures of Lolo: Does this one really count? I'm pretty sure that HAL Laboratories own the rights to it. In any case, I could see a sequel for the DS.
StarTropics: Yes, a new StarTropics game would be cool. However, I doubt Nintendo would consider StarTropics popular enough to be revived.

Should Punch-Out be on there too? I mean that's (sadly) a pretty forgotten franchise.
Like all the games above (except SM RPG) it got two games and then was forgotten . . . Up until the Little Mac AT in SSBB.

I shall also throw in my two cents. However, I suspect some of these have been "evolved" into newer franchises. I still find it strange to admit any game from the mid-90's is "forgotten", but that was over a decade ago. And that scares the crap outta me Pilotwings: I would be shocked if Pilotwings didn't get a Wii update. But will the cartoon characters in a pseudo-realistic world work? I suspect we'll get an overly-cartoony game that will annoy many old fans of the series. Super Mario RPG: The rumours have been ablaze on this for a while now, and I would like them to be true. Each iteration of Mario RPG (SMRPG, Paper, M&L) have had very different personalities, reflecting the company behind them. Square can't help but create epic games as well, and I really want a truly epic Mario game, filled with bizarre and familiar monsters. Wrecking Crew: Games of this age tend to be completely revised into something brilliantly new. The original Donkey Kong became DK94, Balloon Fight became Balloon Kid, Clu Clu Land became DK: King of Swing, and so on. Wrecking Crew DID get updated into a Tetris-style puzzle game in 1998, although I didn't think much of it. Adventures of Lolo: HAL published this originally, but Nintendo published it on the Virtual Console (the only game they have "adopted" so far). Problem is... it's just a one-room action/puzzle title, and they have been dead for an age. Adventures of Lolo DOES still get updated though. There have been iterations on many systems. Star Tropics: If it happens, you won't hear me complaining. Unfortunately, like many games set in "contemporary" times, an update would probably look weird. It was very "Goonies" and then very "Bill & Ted". If they could update it well, then I'd be happy - but I kinda want to leave this slice of early 90's Americana to the ages.

Seeing the amount of coverage it has in Brawl, I was going to suggest that F-Zero be added to that list. But I believe I'll postpone.
To be quite honest, I'm not sure SMRPG really belongs on that list. The Mario RPG-type games have had 5 or so 'sequels' since SMRPG was released all those years ago.
As for what should be on that list in its place, the Kid Icarus franchise immediately spings to mind. Apart from the GB game, it has had nothing since the NES original (apart from the VC download). I'd like to see a new installment in this franchise (most likely as WiiWare rather than a full-blown Wii game).

And apart from the GBA rerelease, and the fact he's a key character in Brawl I agree though. Rumours about that Nintendo is updating an old franchise, and the only things we know are that it's likely to be a NES or early SNES game, and it had dungeons in! That narrows it down to Star Tropics or Kid Icarus. Or, you know, getting hopes up over rumours

I guess the games aren't really "forgotten"... It's just like, how to continue on these series? Games like Super Mario RPG have a later reference, and the rest simply consist of more than one installment.
I'm a constant mourner for the discontinue of Golden Sun. But do I call the disontinue nonsense? NO. Technically speaking, there are reasons for the franchise to stop.
The same apply to other series.

Mole Mania: The game's formula definitely lends loads of potential to a DS remake/sequel. Muddy might need some redesigning to look less generic, but man that game was awesome, it should come back in one form or another. Earthbound: It needs a STATESIDE sequel.

Earthbound: It needs to be released in ALL regions (including the ever so neglected PAL region) Fixed. ;D

Muddy might need some redesigning to look less generic It's comments like THAT that make me glad most gamers don't make games. Yeah, I'd love to see a more hip and radical Muddy Mole. Maybe give him Rayban shades and a surfer dude look? He's a doting father, and that makes his design perfect (especially during the end-of-boss cutscenes).

Myers: No, no, no! He was supposed to have attitude. Silverman: Um... wh-what do you mean, exactly? Myers: Oh, you know, attitude, attitude! Uh... sunglasses! Lady: Could we put him in more of a "hip-hop" context? Krusty: Forget context, he's gotta be a surfer. Give me a nice shmear of surfer. Lady: I feel we should Rasta-fy him by... 10 percent or so. Myers: Hmm... I think he needs a little more attitude. [Silverman blackens in Poochie's sunglasses] All Three: [variously] Oh, yeah, bingo. Yeah, that's it! There it is, right there! I love it!
A Poochie styled Muddy Mole would rock and you know it.

Bottles looks very similar to Muddy. Maybe if Muddy was revived, he could get a vest...

Muddy needs a waistcoat and hat to go with that scarf.

Maybe give him Rayban shades and a surfer dude look? Ew that is not what I meant at ALL. He can be altered to look contemporary without being made EXTREME and MEGA-COOL. I don't want anything about his character to be changed, I love the bumbling father personality. I just want him to look different enough that people stop confusing him with Monty Mole. Though admittedly this has been less of a problem lately since Monty himself has gotten more pronounced and unique in design in recent years.
