Yes. Do you like remakes of old games?

It really depands for every one. Let me state my opinion for some of them.

Super Mario All Stars:
I do think that Super Mario All Stars is great, probably due to the enhancement of graphics and sound and more. I also like the idea that as to keep games as original as they could.

Super Mario Adcance, Advance 3 and Advance 4
I also like the idea to have some surprise add-ons to the game. Yoshi's eggs added to Advance 1, and additional stages added to 3 and 4! Not to mention about the voice. Sadly, GBA absolutely supports no 3D graphics, and thus I can't see the cool GAME OVER rotating letters of YI.

Super Mario Advance 2
This is, in my opinion, probably the worst one of the Super Mario Advance series. The pattern went lighter, the BGM got quite distorted compared to the original, and, worst of all, very few in-game enhancement were made. The appeareance of Luigi didn't make me stay to this game.

Super Mario 64 DS
I don't know what to say about this one. The game is easier than the original 64 version. new mini-games are added, and some other enhancements are made. However, the control was uncomfortable. Either it is using the + pad and Y together, or it is to use the touch screen plus the + pad to control - it's not quite good for right-handed people, as you can't press up and down at the same time to ground-pound. But other than the control, it's a good game.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland
I love the sub-games. However, the game is not very challenging, as a fact of some "hidden" blocks thich used to appear as the same as other "wall-type" block has now changed to look different. This is a BIG SPOILER of the game. now you know what to do for every stage.

The legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The game is qite sticking to the original, so I don't have really any comments. I just don't like the 4 swords part which you must have another GBA linked to play.

Mother 1+2 and Donkey Kong games remakes
I haven't played them before, so no comments.

If the new game really gives you something new then I feel it is worth the purchase. A graphical or content overhaul is marvellous (Super Mario All-Stars, Metroid Zero Mission) and new areas, levels, etc are welcome (GBA-Yoshi's Island, SM64DS)...

Let's see, I think the only remakes I own are Super Mario All-Stars (which I like a lot... 4 remakes in one? Heck yeah!) and Super Mario Bros. DX (which is cool too, even though I haven't found much new things yet).

I haven't played many of the remakes... But Super Mario All-Stars and SM64DS are both brilliant. Ever since the original version of SM64 I'd thought it was a shame you couldn't play as Luigi and Yoshi in it.

I own the GBC re-make of DKC and compared to the SNES version it is a pile of complete rubbish.

Remakes are nice, they add a fresh start to games old timers like us to replays them and fell like new , and it gives the chance to newbies whom lost being born late to play these great games. There is one think I don't like about remakes.... no it's not that the nostalgia is destroyed by the addition of new stuff, no. It's far worst....


It's the VOICES!!!! YEEESSSSS the vioces, they SUCK, I mean, we have to hear mario say "that's much better" every time he eats a mushroom!!!

Super Mario Bros DX was okay but I didnt like the way they had the camera zoom in on mario.

DKC for Game Boy Color wasn't near as cr****y as it would have been. It was a port, not a remake. And it wasn't that bad.

That's what the volume control's for...although you would miss out on the awesome music.

No Metroid: Zero Mission love?

That game is fantastic! It tied the original better to Prime and changed the graphics/gameplay to a more Super/Fusion way of doing things, which rocked. Plus it was the first Metroid to acknowledge the 15% item runs

Oh yeah I forgot about Metroid Zero Mission, it's one of my favorite gomes on the GBA, and what's this abou 15% item run?

Since Super, when it recorded your percent complete, you could both Sequence Break, get items out of order through really tricky gameplay, or Low Percent Run, beat the game with as little stuff as possible. It's always just been a fun diversion to get more out of the game, but Nintendo wisened up and acknowledged it by adding a special ending for beating Zero Mission on 15% or less (I think the record is 13%). It shows Samus in her kneeling pose, with Samus without the armor in a constellation in the background. It's really, really epic.

Interestingly enough, the Japanese version added an Easy mode to the game, and has more endings than the American, all of which show Samus as a kid being raised by the Chozo.
