...this isn't by far the first time Nintendo has allowed this to happen. This is, in fact, the fourth time Nintendo has allowed a Sonic the Hedgehog port on Gamecube. Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Adventure DX and now Sonic Gems Collections. It's not odd. Nintendo and Sega aren't rivals in the hardware market any more - and have become allies in the software market. So it really shouldn't be a surprise to you. Remember... this isn't 1995 any more

Wow. This is very old news. Sonic Team also ported over Phantasy Star Online from the Dreamcast. And quite a few Mega Drive/Genesis games have found their way on to GBA, too.

And they worked with Nintendo's franchises, too.

Not strange, Sonic Gems Collection is going to be great. Sega and Sonic Team didn't port most of those Sega games (Phantasy Star Collection, Sega Smash Pack, Altered Beast, etc), THQ did it, and trust me... Sega Smash Pack is some really crappy emulation. But I'm pretty sure Sonic Gems Collection will be cool. There's some good games on it.

Capcom's been working on a few Zelda games for a while now. Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, the LttP remake/Four Swords, and Minish Cap were all theirs. Flagship also worked on Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, as well as Sonic Advance 3. It's my personal observation that all the Japanese developers are working together to try and topple western ones, who are getting too large a share of the market. Just look at EA and their monopoly (the sole rights to both the NFL AND NHL? Nazis...)

Nintendo is using every advantage it has in the market - great contacts, great developers, a forward-thinking strategy, a long and vibrant history in gaming... But the contacts... ah the contacts... Nintendo is the reason most of these companies are multinational corporations now... so quite a few of them are keen to help out. I'm actually surprised that Konami hasn't done more to bolster Nintendo's profile. Whoo... Mario DDR.
