This is a really silly question, but I don't know what is th e correct way to shut a Gamecube down.
It seems that my Japanese manual suggests that you have to remove the disc before powering it off, but I always just go back to the title screen, wait for about 10 seconds (to make sure that is isn't accessing my mamory card) and press the power button.
So... what is the correct way? (I thought the DS (US version) manual warned peoplenot to remove the gamecard until it is powered off.
EDIT Japanese manual Page 24: It says that you need to open the cover while the system is ON, remove the disc, and close it before turning off it. It even use red text to emphasize that you'll power it off while the system is ON.
EDIT again The same page explains that the disc will stop spinning when you open the lid whith the system ON, and prevents the user from taking away the disc while it's moving. It says that shutting down the GC in this way is for the disc's sake.

Yeah, I hit the Power button and taken the disc out. Surely that's what you're supposed to do Never heard of anyone's Cube messing up because they turned the power off before removing the disc.

Well, what I do is first open the lid so the 'Cube stops the disc from spinning. Then I remove the disc, shut the lid and turn the power off, but not necessarily in that order. I guess activating the disc "brakes" first by opening the lid is a habit left over from my Dreamcast days. Here's what my US GC manual says:

So it's the same as the Japanese manual...
Maybe it's time for me to change the habit.
It's strange because other Nintendo consoles WARN you not to remove the game media while playing.

I never have removed any game from any console while it is still on, and never will (unless it is absolutely necessary to do so). It just seems so weird.

I've tried it with SSBM where the game will ask you to put the disc back (While it's during the gameplay) and with Zelda Four Swords Adventures, the game will.... continue. weird.
I think I'll just use my own way, not to follow the instruction.

I knew that if you opened the Cube with a game inside it would continue from where you left off when you closed it again... that's one of the problems of having buttons not clearly marked.
