I can see it now...millions would compain about animal cruelty when Epona gets hit by power ups such as Fox's Missiles, Samus' Dark beam, or Wario's bobombs. But they could definately work in the horseback fighting stuff from the new Zelda.
By the way, which style Link should be racing? And should there be a Fierce Deity's Mask power up? (Think of the possibilities: a Wind Waker style or 'New Zelda' style Oni-Link...)

Or Red could ride the Zero-one from Pokémon Snap. And Fox could ride the Landmaster tank, or one of those hoverbikes from StarFox Adventures... Or Todd could drive that.  A racing idea is an awesome idea, but it'd cause Mario Kart to go down in sales. |

Heh heh...Super Speed Brothers. Anyway, if they do that, I say give each character one racing machine to start with, and then some others as unlockables. Let's see...
Mario-Kart, Yoshi
Donkey Kong-Rambi, Kart
Link-Epona, King of Red Lions (his appearance will change with what he's riding)
Samus-Starship, um...
Caption Falcon-Blue Falcon, err...
Fox-Arwing, Landmaster Tank
Kirby-Warpstar, Rocket Star
Red-Rapidash, Pidgeot
Wario-Kart, Car
I...guess that it.

Yes it would, but Mario Kart's been out for a year now, and Nintendo are more or less giving it away free at the moment anyway.
I like the Fox on a speederbike though. That could work. The Zero-One is a good idea too... but not as good as the Pokemon Volkswagen Beetle. That's just genius! See? Lots of cars.
Maybe each character could get personalised weapon power-ups depending on the kind of item box they drive over. A careful balancing act would be needed, but hey, SSBM was all about careful balancing as well.

How about a Smash Bros. puzzle game? It could just be a Panel De Pon remake and would work like Pokemon Puzzle League. It's far from a good idea though.  |

Yoshi-egg car
Bowser-Koppa clown car
Marth-Balista(spelled wrong)
Mr. Game&whatch-a flouting G&W
Peach-Bloum choch(spelled wrong)
Diddy-Barrel plane
Olimar-Dolphin
Luigi-Luigi kart
thats about it but call it Nintendo grand prix or something if it were a super smash bros game it would have all the SSB characters(but still use Items and courses)

Or you could have one car per series. Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad could share a car. A number of Fire Emblem heroes operating the Ballista. OH THE POSSIBILITIES!! Hmm... there's a Splash Image here somewhere... |
