Uh-huh...
Right, well the Micro isn't meant to compete with the DS. The Micro isn't next generation handheld either - it's just a small GBA with less features.
The GBA is clearly winding down though. Also, the DS isn't really a Gameboy. That said, it remains to be seen whether Nintendo decides to give us a new Gameboy down the line, or continue work on this DS line.
So... I'm not sure what you are getting at, but that's what I have to say.

Yes, the GBA seems to be winding down to make way for the DS and whatever the future of the Game Boy line may turn out to be... which is exactly WHY the Game Boy Micro has been created. It will stop that massive and celebrated GBA library from disappearing off the shelves. The Micro will have an appeal to certain people, and Nintendo is hedging their bets that it will be popular enough to continue GBA development until they're ready to spring the next Game Boy on us. Nintendo has called the DS its third pillar, with the other two being the Gamecube and GBA... but in business terms they are the three shelves: Nintendo is guaranteeing themselves a hefty chunk of a videogame retailer wall space, even though the Gamecube seems to be disappearing off a cliff. That kind of thought makes me all warm and fuzzy inside

Well, wither DS, GBA and GBM aren't the future of GameBoy.DS and GBA are present stuff, and GBM will soon be and it's not a next-gen.

What a strange poll... how can the DS be the future of Game Boy if it's not even a Game Boy?

I don't think the Micro is replacing the SP, either. And even if it did, that doesn't mean every store would pull every SP off the shelves just because they got a Micro. Infact, you might even see SP prices drop.
