If they use numbers they will probably use numbers greater than 360. Nintendo 1080, perhaps? In that case, the Atari 7800 has them all beat! I hope they don't use numbers. They make really boring names. That's one of the reasons I always loved the names Sega came up with: Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, Nomad. I don't think Nintendo is particularly creative with their names: Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Gamecube, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Virtual Boy. I suppose something like "Nintendo Dimension" would be too cool sounding. I'm guessing they'll pick a name that fits in with their focus on appealing to non-gamers. Something practical and non-threatening. Something like, say, "Nintendo Game System."

Sony has created brand recognition through the Playstation name, and that is undoubtedly one of the tenets of its success.
Remember, though, that Sony and Microsoft are not videogame companies exclusively, so they need brand recognition. Nintendo IS exclusively a videogame company, and as such it can rely on the company name alone to generate interest.
However, while the NES, SNES, N64 and DS all incorporated the Nintendo name, the Gamecube only added it as an afterthought (and was it supposed to come before or after? NGC? GCN?) Game Boy, however, is the same as the Playstation (in name), in that Nintendo has created a recognisable brand over the years that doesn't even require their name to be included.
The question now is whether or not the Nintendo name would aid a console, or whether it has "baggage" that would cause it some problems. I think most people still know the Nintendo name fondly, and I would quite like to see the next console use the name...
...SO LONG AS THE WORD "WAND" IS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN!!!

I quite want the next console be called "Nintendo something".... Nintendo GameWand actually is not THAT bad, huh?
But let's see... The original GB has "Nintendo Game Boy" printed on it, right? Yeah, it needs the Nintendo name on its early stage!

.... Nintendo GameWand actually is not THAT bad, huh? Yes... yes it is. It hurts. It would also be a big spiky nail in the coffin of Nintendo's public image.

Of course if they had come up with e traditional-esque controller then there would be no "Nintendo GameWand" suggestions for the Revolution.

Heh heh, fonts!

"Nintendo Sensei" would be an excellent name. Everyone respects a sensei.

I think gamers and non-gamers alike would refuse to buy a "TV Buddy"... I'd rethink that one ;D

There we go... you're onto a winner there. Although cut out the first bit. Nintendo Beer Dispenser would do the trick (and would make gamers worldwide feel less silly when they say "I'm not coming out tonight. I'm going to stay in with a beer")

Nintendo Beer Dispenser would do the trick (and would make gamers worldwide feel less silly when they say "I'm not coming out tonight. I'm going to stay in with a beer") Nintendo would probably get sued when people realise that no beer is actually dispensed during game play...unless of course it does actually dispense beer..which means you could get drunk whilst in the comfort of your own home and playing computer games. I can only imagine what the level 'Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy' in YI would look like in that case.

There's one way around that little problem... make sure that it REALLY DOES dispense beer!
