So, the last week has seen quite a bit of info on the Revolution's release. I thought I'd share it so we could all pee our underwear with joy together!! It's good to share!!
First up, it was confirmed that Nintendo is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release, so much as this is possible, some time after March in 2006.
Jim Merrick, the Nintendo Europe chappy, has since gone on to say that the Revolution would be released in all regions without 14 weeks of each other. This doesn't actually seem all that impressive (14 weeks is still more than a quarter of the year) but it does seem to cement the release date in Europe as some time 2006 (rather than 2007, which was feared to be the case).
We already know it will be online ready out of the box, but perhaps some of you didn't know that the wifi broadband router released this November with Mario Kart DS will also be compatible with Revolution games.
Well... there you have the story so far. It is highly likely that the Revolution will be in our grubby mitts some time next year. Oh yes, and apparently you can download classic games from WORLDWIDE servers... giving you the opportunity to download and play games that were never released in your territory (SMRPG and Earthbound, my European friends?)

Does. It. Mean. Revolution will support even regions that Nintendo has nothing to duel with?
If that's the case, HURRAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Finally! Nintendo has gone worldwide!........ At least I hope so.

I'm wondering about regions, actually. If Nintendo successfully broke down the regional-lockouts, this wouldn't just be a revolution... but a complete rewriting of the entire videogame market!

^ At least for downloadable games. In other places I saw this posted, Merrick suggested Super Mario RPG for European Gamers. But hey, maybe I can get down with my Satanic side and play me some Devil World. Still no Doshin since it's a Gamecube game, though. =/

Unfortuanetly, just like the Xbox 360, the Rev's 'worldwide release' doesn't include us, who are apparently not attached to the world any more.
Also worth noting that the latest news is that Nintendo may never reveal the Rev's specs because they 'mean nothing to consumers'. An interesting, and I think good, idea.

The pricing hasn't been announced, though it has been suggested that SOME games will be available as "gifts" for buying certain other games... so buy Metroid Prime 3 (as a hypothetical example) and you could be given a free download of Super Metroid. But pricing and all that has yet to be confirmed... though I'm hoping it will be cheap and cheerful.

I really hope the regional thing is ripped off, plus the online function supported at ANY regions (including those not related with Nintendo like my place).
For the games that I want to see, um..... Actually I want everyhthing, and I also want to see Japan only games in English.

^ You can keep wishing. Some less text-heavy games like, say, Mario & Wario sure. But if you're expecting Fire Emblem games to get an english translation, don't hold your breath. They wouldn't even do it for the NES Classics series on GBA.

But then none of the Fire Emblems were in the Famicom Mini collection either... so it's not really a surprise they didn't turn up in the NES Classics collection.
But while I doubt really obscure Japan-only games will be translated (such as the text adventures), I would be a little surprised if Nintendo started "porting" Japan Only classics and ignored the Fire Emblem games.

Nazo no Murasame was a disappointment to not see ported. Kid Icarus was a slap in the face.
Let's hope both are downloadable

I just hope all the down-loadable N64 games come with a free graphical upgrade - some of them need it, badly. The snes games are perfect with respect to the graphics so they shouldn't need a graphical touch-up.
