I see no good reason why we couldn't get two Mario Karts per system. Maybe if one was released early in the system's life, then a second one later in the system's life, with all new tracks, graphical refinements, etc... but the same play style.
Nintendo's innovative streak is generally excellent, but sometimes I want to play more of the same. I would kill for a whole-new game based around the Yoshi's Island engine... and while most people complained that Super Mario Sunshine wasn't new enough... it was good enough for me. Super Mario 64 V2... I'd been waiting for something like that ever since the month after the N64 was released!
Familiarity is under-rated in Nintendo's world. I don't want every game to be more of the same... but they create the most wonderful, self-contained game worlds and then ditch them almost as quickly. It's a crying shame.

I definately agree with you there. And just take a look at the anticipation of New Super Mario Bros. and tell me other people don't also think the exact same way.
I mean, I love Metroid Prime. It was innovative, original and fun. A definate 10/10 game for me. And Metroid Prime 2 would be at least a 9/10 game for me. Sure, its not innovative or original, but it is great fun. Retro didn't need to completely remake the Metroid engine again for me to love the game.
Hopefully Nintendo picks up on this idea.

I didn't think Metroid Prime was very good, personally... all that Dark Aether stuff just made playing a pain, and stopped me from being able to explore properly.

(psst... that's why you're supposed to play through the game and get the Dark Suit... so you can explore it... it's no different to not being able to explore the hot or underwater areas of other Metroid games without the right suit).
