In the preview for Dr. Mario/Puzzle League in Nintendo Power, they treat Puzzle League as if it were a new game, designed after the Pokemon Puzzle Challenge GBC game. If that didn't tick me off enough, it appears there aren't any characters in sight. No Lips or Yoshis. Very disappointing. Can anyone confirm what exactly this abomination is?

My guess is that its characfer-less like you stated. You'd think they would have slapped on the Yoshi's Island theme for the States so it would be 'two Mario Puzzle Games in one'.

Are you talking about Pokémon Puzzle League? Of course there are characters. You choose a trainer, and then a Pokémon (each trainer has three to choose from.) There are quite a lot of characters, in fact...

No, no... They're calling Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack in the GBA bundle that's coming stateside Puzzle League, and claiming it's pretty much original, though based on the N64/GBC Pokemon Puzzle League/Challenge games. The Nintendo Puzzle Collection had an updated version of the Panel de Pon, with different fairy characters, and the SNES AND GB saw versions of this game with Yoshi called Tetris Attack.
YET, NOA is being ridiculous and not only getting their history wrong, but supposedly removing any characters/plot from the game. Eck..

Its so bland looking.
Hell, they could have just stuck Dr. Mario in there - it would have at least looked exciting.

This is a character-less puzzle game. No characters. None at all - except fot Dr Mario.
For those who have Dr Mario 64, Nintendo Puzzle Collection, any version of Panepon, don't bother on buying it.

Despite lacking characters, Panepon / Tetris Attack / Puzzle League is still the second best puzzle game ever (behind Tetris), so I'm certainly ocnsidering getting it, regardless of how bland it looks.

Puzzle Collection wouldn't give me a chance to play it on the go, though (well, theres that download feature, but thats not very practical).
But yeah, I wouldn't mind NPC.

It's got the same music and crazy blocks as Panel de Pon, but it just has no external character decoration. About time, I'd say... it was just getting confusing... I have Panepon games on at least three different game lists now!
