Yeah, wheres the love for RE4? Its an absolute brilliant game - everyone should own it. I agree. It was, by far, my most played game of 2005. Even Nintendo Power recently ranked it just below Ocarina of Time as the second-best game [to appear on a Nintendo console] of all time. [rant mode]I mean, Nintendo went so far as to get an exclusivity deal for RE, and the games didn't sell that well. Even RE4, which did sell well considering that it was an M-rated, third party title on the Gamecube, still took about six months just to reach the half-million mark. If there are so many Nintendo fans who didn't buy RE4 (or any other great 3rd party 'Cube game) simply because it was third party, or didn't have Mario or Link in it, then Nintendo's biggest problem might be its own fans. [/rant mode]Um... Please excuse the rant. EDIT: Just wanted to point out that my sales figures are based on the US release. However, as I understand, the Japanese numbers weren't too impressive either.

It sold pretty dismally on the PS2, too, so it really didn't sell all that well overall.
I suspect that alot of Nintendo fanboys decided that since they were porting it to the PS2 that they couldn't buy it, and alot of Sony fanboys decided they couldn't touch something that the Cube had for almost a year before they got it. And the Microsoft fanboys decided that "its not as good as Halo" and sat in their parent's basements waiting for Halo 3, which they believe will be better than the second coming of Jesus.
Personally I only got RE4 in September, but boy, was it great. It has the same high production values as you expect from Nintendo, and was a blast to play.
I'll finish up my sales pitch by saying this: If you don't buy it a donkey will eat your family. So buy it now. And I mean RIGHT NOW.

That nasty little Nintendo fanboy inside me (whom I occasionally have to beat with a stick) gets just a smidgen of satisfacation from that. ;D But what really greases my gears is, would RE4 have been the huge million seller it was expected to be if it had been released on the PS2 first?

I think it would have done worse, since the PS2 version is apparently lacking alot of the atmosphere that the Cube version has, and is generally considered worse, so I assume it wouldn't have gained all the awards and praise it did, so it would have ended up as 'just another RE game for the PS2 and GCN'.

Yeah, I mean the difference is just about notable. Compare these two screenshots: GAMECUBEPLAYSTATION 2[/old joke] All this chat about third party games has made me reconsider buying up some third party titles (on the cheap, of course)... so I've bought "Viewtiful Joe" and "Beyond Good and Evil". I also intend to pick up some other bits and pieces... maybe "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time", "RE4" and "Sonic Gems Collection".

Sonic Gems Collection was a fairly large disappointment.

BG+E? I must congratulate you on a very good purchase! I highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone. Trying to photograph all the flora and fauna (including bosses) is very addictive. The staff combat is very nicely done, almost like a beautiful dance. It's just a shame it's so short. There were whisperings of a sequal, but nothing has come of this so far.
EDIT: If I were to suggest one other third party game for you to buy, and if you enjoy solid RPGs, then it would have to be Skies of Arcadia. It's massive to explore, and fun to play.

Yes, but I'm a complete sucker for collections ;D Well... Touché. Speaking of which, does anyone know if we're ever going to get either of the Mega Man collections over here in Europe?

Neither of them seem to have been announced so far. I'd be surprised if they weren't, though.

What's wrong with Yoshi's Universal Gravitation? Well... play it and find out. The graphics are awful and they overcrowd the screen, the controls are awful and the tilt sensor is really poorly integrated (it's not the same kind of sensor as used in other tilt games). Ugh... I though that game would be good.

No, it's not good. It's unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. I must be a masochist for actually getting gold medals in every stage. Oh, how I hate ball Yoshi.

The most annoying part is that the ship Yoshi sections actually give the impression of a proper tilt sensor in there, but the rest of the game operates on an 8-point tilt sense.
If only they had tried a little harder (by which I mean a hell of a lot harder... stupid Artoon - first that stupid Bee GBA game, then Blinx, now this!)
