1. I've seen Nintendojo.com, and it says some patent discovered says Revolution could play other consoles!
2. What will be the Rev's official 3-letter abbreviation (GBA, GCN, NES, etc.)
3. Will other companies bring back past hits? (Will Atlus return Rockin' Kats? Will Nintendo let HAL bring back Day Dreamin' Davey?)

2. What will be the Rev's official 3-letter abbreviation (GBA, GCN, NES, etc.) As far as I know, the Revolution doesn't have an official name yet, so no official abbreviation either. But on most sites I've been to, people are using REV.

1. I've seen Nintendojo.com, and it says some patent discovered says Revolution could play other consoles! That's not a question... but yes, I've seen it too. Basically, Nintendo took out a patent for the Virtual Console ages ago, and they have recently made an amendment to it. It doesn't say it CAN play other consoles, but it amends the phrasing in such a way so it COULD emulate other consoles... which may well mean that Sega games could be on their way... Perhaps it could even be programmed to play Playstation titles (though it would be illegal for it to emulate them... the games would have to be reprogrammed). There's also been excitement over a possible video of the Revolution's "home" screen... but this has been confirmed to be a fan creation and not the real thing. 2. What will be the Rev's official 3-letter abbreviation (GBA, GCN, NES, etc.) I think you answered it yourself. I don't know for sure, but I suspect it will be REV. If anyone gets a chance to play one - make sure to check the label on the back if there is one for a serial number 3. Will other companies bring back past hits? (Will Atlus return Rockin' Kats? Will Nintendo let HAL bring back Day Dreamin' Davey?) Well... my theory is that if certain games are downloaded a lot from the Virtual Console then the companies who made them may be tempted to produce new games in that series. But to answer your question - there's nothing stopping them from doing that anyway. And I don't see why Nintendo would have to LET Hal bring back Day Dreamin' Davey.

Hey, it's a licensed 3rd party game...how else would it return to the hard-core dedicated fans? I like Rockin Kats a whole lot better than DDD!

I think you misunderstood what I meant.
If HAL wants to release DDD then I doubt they will have to be granted by Nintendo any more than any other game appearing on the Virtual Console will have to. You just made it sound like Nintendo owns HAL or something - which they don't.

But was/at one time HAL and Nintendo were really close? Sure seemed like that....

Yes, HAL games have been exclusively published by Nintendo since about 1993...
But that doesn't mean that HAL is constrained by Nintendo, as a Second Party company might be. They would still be able to make free decisions...
And seeing as how the president of Nintendo used to be a programmer at HAL, chances are Nintendo will be very receptive to opening up HAL's back catalogue!

Sorry about the confusion. Not that Rev could play PSX games, I mean like old Sega games for download. Sorry aboot that!
