Just been over to a couple of news sites, and I noticed the following announcements:
Pricewise, Nintendo is commited to selling new REV games at no higher than $50 (which would be about £40). I think this is great news. Whilst being aimiably unjudging and tolerant towards the 360 and PS3, they have a major (ummm...whats the word?) disadvantage (?) in the pricing area. Personally, I just don't have that much money to blow on games.
Also, you remember when Iwata-san told us that worldwide launches are a stupid idea (in a manner of speaking)? Well, apparently an insider told a magazine that he meant that Nintendo doesn't want to follow the crowd (e.g. Microsoft), but still thinks that a simultanious release of the REV may be possible, nudge wink. YAY!

Gamecube games sell for £40 anyway... so it's a shame not to see the prices drop any more... I hope they adopt a multi-pricing strategy like they did with the DS - cheap to produce "smaller" games sell for less than full games.
And apparently the worldwide release thing was misquoted - so I read. What he said was he's not doing a worldwide release JUST because Sony and Microsoft are doing one. They intended to all along, for their own reasons.

I find it hard to believe how people took that quote so out of context. I mean, even if a company did decide to not do something because everybody else was, they wouldn't say "we wont because they are", instead they'd make up some story about how the other companies did it wrong and how their way is right.
And at least you get equivalent prices over there. Games are $100 here, when the actually value of US$50 should make them no higher than $75.

Gamecube games sell for £40 anyway... ARE YOU KIDDING? When I had my GC, I thought I spent more than £90. And then, I used another (more than) £90 for my DS, both were bought together with one game. Yes, I heard that the price of GC keeps falling, but 40? My... I should not have been getting my GC untl late of its lifespan (provided that I can still get DOL-001 instead of 101)! It seems good that I can have Rev at half the price of my GC though. Hoorah! (conversion by www.xe.com/ucc/ - and the currency I use is HKD And games sold here are close to their suggested retailed price written in www.nintendo.co.jp )

£90 for ONE Gamecube game? That's... rediculous. They've been selling for £40 each since launch here (and £20 for certain ones). EDIT: Wait... I'm guessing you misread Fryguy's post and thought he meant the CONSOLE was £40?

Yes, each Gamecube GAME costs £40 (although most of them are going for a bit less now). If you weren't mistaken over what I meant - I'm going to guess that the money you're quoting and the money I'm quoting are not worth the same amount.

Young Link might not be far off if he did mistake the GC for £40. My local store has pre-owned GC for £35 and new ones for £54.99 with a pad/memory card. Now thats a great deal!
I paid £100 for mine with a copy of Super Mario Sunshine when it first came out. And anyway, as for the simultaneous release; well thats great news and I looking foward to the REV or whatever it is going to be in the end. And to be completely honest, I dont mind paying £39.99 if the games are damn good.

EDIT: Wait... I'm guessing you misread Fryguy's post and thought he meant the CONSOLE was £40? *blush* Well.... yeah. I misread. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHH! ...........If £40 is the price for a GAME, then I'd say it's expensive. It's because each GC/DS game being sold here is usually selling for not higher than 20. (Back to about a month ago, I saw that Mario Party 7 was being sold for £20 - and that's what I said expensive.)
