www.revolutionfanboy.com/2006/05/04/rumor-get-a-wii-for-free/So, if this is true, you can buy four games or three games and an extra controller to get a free Wii. It seems that'd be about the same price. So, what do you guys think? I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would give away their console for free, but there's been a lot of things that I find hard to believe coming out of Nintendo lately.

No. It might be the other way around...a controller and a $10 card on VC purchases!

Seeing as we don't even know the release date or pricing yet, I will file this one safely under "rumours that jumped the gun a bit". Nintendo has always produced profitable yet affordable hardware, but I have also read an interview with a Nintendo exec that admired Sony's mass-producing of consoles to drive down component prices and make them profitable. Is it possible that Nintendo is willing to make a substantial loss on the hardware this time around? If it's already affordable, then that suggests it would be possible to make it free or virtually free when coupled with profit-making game releases. Intriguing... but still... too early to comment. Maybe next week

I could see Nintendo releasing the Wii with a free game (perhaps as a Preorder deal) and I could definately see them packing a second controller with the Wii.
But anything more than that (especially giving the console away)? I can't see it.
Who knows, though.
