Huh? Animal friendly? Never heard of this award...
But if this award exists (and not literally, I suppose videogames are designed for humans whatever the theme of the game is), I'd have no surprise that Nintendogs gets the award. Maybe they should go for other pet simulators.

Nintendogs did win the award for being a pet simulator. PETA said that its a good alternative to getting your kid a dog for Christmas when you know that the kid really can't take care of it.
Other games that have won are Deer Avengers 4 (for letting deer shoot hunters as well as the other way around) and Whiplash (for featuring a lab animal).

Well its good to know that PETA approves... Whats the deal with Nintendogs? Do you just pet and feed your dog? According to www.everythingandnothing.org.uk/vg/worldtotals.php , Nintendogs has already sold close to 7 million copies, outselling every GC game, and moving into the top 10 best selling handheld games of all time. If it keeps selling so much, it could easily move into the top 20 best selling games of all time. Thats astonishing.

You can get up to three dogs at one time, you train them using verbal commands, pet them, feed them, play with them, talk them for walks, take them to the dog training competitions to win some money... spend that money on more toys, dogs, house designs...
But I found it got quite tedious quite quickly.

I noticed at Best Buy that they had different boxes with different kinds of dogs... Are those different editions, or just different art?

I noticed at Best Buy that they had different boxes with different kinds of dogs... Are those different editions, or just different art? They are different editions, but the only difference between them is which dogs are immediately available from the start. But in the end, all the same dogs are unlockable in all versions.

Some items and accessories are only available in certain versions as well.
Oh yes, and only the Chihuahua one is acceptable to buy if you are a male above a certain age. And you have to quote Ren and Stimpy when you get to the counter. Otherwise everyone thinks you're gay.
Or pretend you're buying it for your girlfriend... whatever.

I would totally get the daschund. If I were going to buy the game. Which I'm not. Because I had a Tomagotchi 9 years ago. I was just interested because its climbing the all-time sales chart very fast...

I believe there is a new dalmatian and friends edition now? Well, I once had Dachund and Friends and enjoyed it at the time because I never before used the DS for such interactivity.
But as Fryguy says, it soon got tedious and so very boring, I would leave my dogs for weeks and they would still be happily walking around, or, in worst case scenario, dognapped or ran away from home.
There was only one thing for it, £20 was just too tempting...
