E3 '06 draws to a close, but I think Nintendo had a pretty good show this year... Sony PlayStation 3 - from hero to zero?Nintendo's Wii steals show at expo(Link doesn't seem to want to work. Try clicking on the link at this page) Sony denies copying NintendoHideo Kojima wants to run away from MGS4 to work for Wii...Anyway, what are your favorite games from this year's show? What were your biggest surprises? And for those of you who, like me, plan to join the "Wiivolution" on launch day, what game(s) will you pick up with the system? My favorites include Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros Brawl, Excite Truck, Sonic Wild Fire, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS). I was most surprised by Smash Bros Brawl, partly by the way Nintendo unveiled it, but also because of the inclusion of Solid Snake. (I bet a lot of you are wishing you had bought MGS: Twin Snakes about now, eh? I was also surprised by the announcement of Yoshi's Island 2. I'm a little fuzzy on exactly what will or won't be a launch title for the Wii, but Twilight Princess gets the #1 spot on my list. Beyond that, I'm not sure yet.

I am wishing I owned Twin Snakes, actually >.>;;
That Kojima news ROCKS. Stick it to the MAN ;D
And Brawl totally restored my faith. Yoshi's Island 2 is amazing, and I'm really looking forward to TP once again (now that I see it alive and well). Mario Galaxy looks cool, and I'm really interested in Disaster too. And they're finally bringing Pokemon Dungeon to the States! Yay!

E3 was very, very good. I'll admit that at first, when I pulled myself out of bed early to look at what happened at the conference (not for the conference itself - I like sleep - but early none-the-less), I was slightly disappointed. Sure, Yoshi's Island 2 and Super Mario Galaxy announcements were fantastic, but I wasn't as wowed as I should have been.
The next afternoon I returned from school early and was greated by not only SSB Brawl, but enough time to read through impressions of the stuff on show, and suddenly I realised just how great it was.
Best E3 in years.

Those are some interesting articles! Nintendo certainly had the showgoers wrapped around their little Wii! (Arf! ;D) Pre-opening, I was surprised that there were live feeds of the conferences. I mean... I've usually had to put up with other people's views of the conference in years past, but this time I could sit there and watch them speak, and note down everything relevant. It was an excellent thing, and I hope we get to see a lot more of it. Although I'll admit I chugged a bit too much coffee, and used the Red Steel demo to nip off for a wee. One thing I noticed is that the Wii might not have the highest polygon counts, but it has some very crisp textures. Nice graphics doesn't mean being able to see every bead of sweat or every flagstone on a road... they have no effect on my gaming experience. But it does look damn good. Of the new franchises, Project HAMMER is the one that has my interest right now. Excite Truck looks interesting, but there's just something about wielding a giant mace and crushing robotic enemies that just seems right with a motion sensitive controller. Other Wii games? Well... if Nintendo hadn't announced SSBB then I think they might have had a harder time selling the console later this year. They have guaranteed early adopters will snatch it up. It's my game of the show, even though it wasn't playable and it doesn't even need to use the Wii remote! The DS did get a lot of love too. Yoshi's Island 2 was all I needed to see to secure my purchase of a DS Lite... whenever it gets released. And Hotel Dusk: Room 215 truly looks like another amazing game. After Another Code, I'll definitely be snatching up this offering too This was a pretty damn good E3. Nintendo seemed to do everything right, Microsoft had quite a lot going for them... and Sony has walked away leaving a sour taste in the mouth for many. Sure it has nice looking games, but for £600? I'm with Moore on this one - buy a 360 and Wii if you like traditional, pretty games and motion control that much. You'll get more reliable hardware for a start.

Yes, it was a very good show this year! I was just ecstatic after the conference, but the day after that - the big unveiling of SSBB - meant I had to invent a whole new level of happiness ;D
Best in show: Has to be SSBB, with the great Mario himself coming a decent second. Shame that neither will be released at launch.
I will probably be getting Wario Ware and Project HAMMER at launch, which should tide me over nicely until the "second wave" of games.

That was just about the best E3 in the history of history! My favorite news was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, hands down. Up there with it is Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. An honorable mention goes to Yoshi's Island 2 and Duck Hunt.

Ironic. This E3 was better then last years, yet G4's coverage was better last year then it was this one.
I am very happy for the Wii. It seems everyone wants one. If you go look at some of the Gamefaq polls you'd see Wii was overwelmingly the favorite. The only pople in the industry that weren't completely won over was G4 evebn though they did say it works perfectly.
I must say Peter Moore is alot less Biased the the rest of Sony and Microsoft. I wonder if the 360 could bounce back. It looks liek the games had some potential
I must say I cant wait till Q4. Im also hoping that SSB dojo will give out alot more info as the Summer is usually slow going. Luckly NSMB comes out this Teusday here. Thats one thing I love about living in America ;D. It's also my Senior year so I'll have a little more time to play my Wii.
The DS wasn't bad but last year was better for it. I am intreged by Yoshi Island 2, Diddy Kong Racing DS and Starfox DS but the rest of the line up was kind of lacking. They did fulfill my dream of a Wifi Starfox
Overall best E3 in a long time. Now if I can a time machine so I can get me Super Smash Bros Brawl.

It's also my Senior year so I'll have a little more time to play my Wii. I'm sorry... no matter how much I think I'm getting used to the name, comments like these still make me crack up ;D

Speaking of which, I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but about halfway through the conference, I realised I was getting used to the name. Even starting to LIKE it. And as I realised that, a friend of mine (who was also watching) IMed me saying "I'm starting to like the name." I no longer think of urine when I hear it, which is a good sign.

Yeah, I saw that linked via Joystiq. Weird thing is... it's hardly even satire!

I'm sorry... no matter how much I think I'm getting used to the name, comments like these still make me crack up ;D I was thinking the same thing! I'll admit, I think Reggie Fils-Aime got away with saying it and not sounding silly, but when Iwata came on and started saying "Wii," I laughed a little. The name still catches in my throat a little when I say it. It makes me feel so self-conscious.

I still call it Revolution near my friends. I think the name isn't that bad. In fact I likt it now. You learn to love it after awile. I think Nintendo should be glad they have loyal fans, else this thing would never fly.
