IGN has new detials. Two things of interest: No online competitve mode, but it will support the 24-hour-connection service. The gunship will be used to travel between planets, but you can't actually fly it yourself.

What's up with that new Gunship? Super Metroid, she has the same ship she had from Metroid (and Prime, Prime 2, and RoS)... so why the change? Could this finally be Post-Fusion, or will there be some convenient story gimmick to explain the temporary change in ships?

I'm guessing the second one seeing as Metroid Fusion is chronologically the last in the Metroid series. It does look a lot cooler than her regular ship IMO.

All the Prime games take place between Metroid and Metroid II, so I doubt it's post Fusion.

Wait why exactly cant you have a game after fusion? If Fry will excuse me for answering this for him, he's not saying there can't be a game after Fusion. There absolutely could be. He's just saying that the "Prime series," so far, takes place between Metroid 1 and 2, and he expects MP3 to follow suit. Theoretically, it could take place after Fusion, but it'd be sort of an odd jump into the future, especially since Retro referred to the Prime series as a trilogy. It would make more sense, continuity-wise, for the games to be successive in the time line. ^Hmm... And that is an example of the kind of post you would only see on a gamer's forum.

I guess I get to look forward to Retro's explanation of this one-shot only gunship.

Maybe the ship will blow up at the end in an explosion of fiery goodness.

Hey Corey, always feel free to answer any questions if you've got the answers.
And you're right, of course. All of the Prime games so far have taken place between Metroid and Metroid II. The story is of Samus's battle with Dark Samus. So I'm not saying a Metroid game can't continue after Fusion, but I'm saying it's highly unlikely that MP3 will.
After all... no-one actually believed we'd eradicated the Metroids at the end of Fusion, right? In fact I'd love a game where Samus attacks Federation ships and planets to kill the rest of their experimental Metroids. It'd be a reversal of her role in Super Metroid.

Ok I understand now
Anyway the lack of an oline paly makes me sad. I was hoping this game had Wifi. But in this kind of game what would you get from Wifi?

Same as Metroid Prime Hunters, I would guess. Multiplayer deathmatches.
Shame that it won't use wi-fi for multiplayer (as I never really got a chance to play MP2 multiplayer) but it sounds like you will be able to get some additional content over WiiConnect24.

I can't see that happening to be honest. Besides it wouldn't make much sense chronologically. Anyhow, I want to be able to battle Kraid/Mother Brain in this game, as Metroid Prime had Ridley make an appearance. And if he can appear why not Kraid?

It makes perfect sense chronologically if set after Metroid Fusion.

I heard Ridley was in Metroid Prime 3, so that's a nice something.
